    low-end laser printers these days?

My HP Laserjet 6i was getting in the tooth, and the paper feed was gone (had to feed one sheet at a time). I wanted a BW laser that could duplex and network. HP's offering's that met these requirements were priced in the stratosphere. In the end I purchased a Brother HL5350DN (the D & N are...

    How long do drives last.

My systems have been shut down at the end of the day (since 1991). Since about 1999, though, my drives have had a fan in front of them and have always been cool to the touch. I've never had a hard drive fail - even external ones.

What is a huge fail is that technology is supposed to make things easier, but things are getting harder for the layperson.

Thanks SD, I'll check out the Sunawaymans. Problem is most mfrs don't tell you the color temp of the LED they use. One man's neutral is another man's yellow, etc. There are cribs that Fenix misrepresents the tint by calling them neutral. But perhaps neutral is better than blue, green or purple...

My Fenix E05 keychain FL and HL21 Headlamp arrived yesterday - some 4-5 days late because of holidays here and stupid Blue Dart didn't deliver (contrast that with the local Amazon wannabe that delivered some items on Sunday morning - a day equivalent to Christmas in the Western hemisphere!)...

DD: The only "charged forever" you will find are Lithium primaries; in AAA, AA and CR123 sizes. If you put one after checking the date on the wrapping, it is almost certain to have juice till that date. Eneloops would be a close second because of the low self-discharge, but are not as dependable...

After much research and thought, I have come to the conclusion that one needs four flashlights. 1) A keychain light to be the EDC. I have ordered the Fenix E05. Single brightness of 27 lumens, supposed to be floody, which I wanted, and AAA battery. Not entirely happy with the twist switch, but...

Only Fenix is well represented here, with the same authorized dealer also selling some Nightcore, Surefire and Ultrafire models. Amazon has them and they ship most places. On a couple of forums, I read about early failures of Zebralights. Anything to be worried about, SD? IIRC, the founder's mistress sued for part of his wealth and it became nasty. You might remember it if you were in S. CA at that time. I too have a couple of Maglite's, but they're hardly ever used. Can't hold a lumen (candle) to cheap Chinese LED flashlights.

LM, not work related, only for personal use. I sometimes travel to areas where there are no lights at night (rural, remote) and at such places having a bright flashlight that throws a narrow beam is useless. I don't shine the light at distant objects at all. The need is to see the immediate...

I'm unsure about LED Lenser's quality. Many online reviews say they: 1) exaggerate lumnes / beam distance 2) run time 3) circuits are basic and not constant current type There are also reports of shoddy constructions. Surprising for a German product. Looking at Fenix now; prohibitively...

    Which 2TB Drive?

Decades ago, Sears was a case-study (in the good way) when I went to business school for my MBA. How times have changed. How come Lampert is still around? I'd think the shareholders (or banks who've lent them money as they continue to hemorrhage) would have booted him off a long time ago...
