What's the best wireless router these days?

Sh*t. That's too bad. Thanks for telling me; I don't know how I missed the news.

What's the best wireless router these days?

Why do you "miss" them? Has Buffalo stopped making routers? I have a Buffalo router and 2 clients (the Ethernet hubs), and it has been working flawlessly for me for the last 2 years.

    A waste of space

Sigh. If only you'd given a bit of time. I have three programs from long ago that do this. I haven't used them in years, but the file stamps from 2002, 2003 and 2005. They're called MakeBigFile, Spacehog, and CreateTestFile. All three programs together are 576kb in size, so I can easily email...

    Something Random

I've just begun using my desktop at home after a gap of about 6 months (was away and using my company provided lapop). Oddly, I am finding the laptop to be faster for booting and all tasks thereafter. Don't know what's up. Desktop's got an X2-4200, 2GB RAM, XP Pro, 2 HDDs (with swap file on both).

Producer: CD quality isn't good enough

He's being unrealistic about the kind of quality he wants everyone to have. But I sure can relate to where he's coming from. I was in a recording studio a couple of times, with the engineer that does the actual mixing of the live performance. The "presence" and fidelity of the sound was simply...

Producer: CD quality isn't good enough

Global Overpopulation: The gorrila in the room?

India did. During the infamous Emergency days of the mid-seventies, Sanjay Gandhi undertook a campaign to sterilize people (mainly through vasectomies). His mother, Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister and had declared the Emergency to silence dissent and critics. Sanjay's idea in principle was...

Global Overpopulation: The gorrila in the room?

AFAIK, every religion says to go forth and multiply. I think this is because in the olden days infant mortality was high and life expectancy was low, and societies were more secure and successful when they had a minimum mass. Today the situation is reverse, so there is no need to multiply, but...

    Should we ban disposable batteries?

Some of you may remember my rants about rechargeable AAs in the P&S thread. I did buy gobs of Eneloops, but they didn't help. The camera is not the culprit, the flash is. It is so power hungry that the normally fast camera becomes an unusable slowpoke after a half dozen flash shots. I think the...

Global Overpopulation: The gorrila in the room?

The solution is not more food, it is less people. I am not advocating "culling", but birth control in whatever form takes your fancy - self-restraint, condoms, pills, etc. Multiplying like rabbits will take us to doomsday fast. Think potable water, food, bare necessities, and the pollution dd is...
