Word 2003 messes folder Modified Date

I considered that, Tannin. Coping with this issue and reinstalling Office 2000 is like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Other than this one problem, Office 2003 had a lot of subtle improvements I like.

Word 2003 messes folder Modified Date

Aah, Fushigi, I think you hit the nail on the head. IIRC, previous versions created the temp file in C:\Docs&Settings...., but this one creates it in the same folder that the original is in. Opening the file read-only does not modify the folder date, so that's good. I guess I'll have to use this...

Word 2003 messes folder Modified Date

I've been running W2k since it was released. I've gone from MS Office 97 to 2000 to 2003. Sometime after installing Office 2003, I noticed some strange behaviour. I have a lot of Word files, each inside its own folder. When I open a Word document, and then close it without making any changes...

I need a color laser printer

I know it's fun to diss HP, but laser printers are something they do really well. Apart from the points Merc makes about them, I've sen them run and run and run in corporate environments. The HP LaserJet 4 is an all time classic, widely acknowledged to be the best laser printer ever designed and...

What anti-spyware anti-adware combos do you use nowadays?

Tannin, I don't have any anti-spyware TSRs. I do have SpywareBlaster installed, but AFAIK, it's not a TSR, it makes changes to your hosts files, etc. to prevent one from going to sites known to be bad. The TSR I was talking about was for AV. Like the opinions expressed here, I too was confident...

What anti-spyware anti-adware combos do you use nowadays?

Tannin, I'll have to support Fushigi on this one. Despite following safe practices and using Netscrape Email, I was infected once and passed it to on some others that I had sent mail to. That's when I began using a resident AV. Ultimately I think it boils down to just how secure one wants to be...

Dan Neil, auto critic for the L.A. Times, wrote a scathing review of the Pontiac G6 on Wednesday.
