    New DVD Player

The problem with using SP/DIF for DVD-Audio is that it doesn't have the bandwidth to support 5.1 channels of high quality audio. It just wasn't designed for it. Firewire of course has no such problems. Yes there is a bunch of copy protection crap in there too, but you could always record the 6...

    VCR Substitutes

I got all excited and thought James had returned, till I saw the 2002 post date. There are some DVD recordable/HDD combo units that have Tivo Basic, no monthly sub cost and you get three days of listings I believe. Personally I'm going to stick another 200GB drive in my Replay 5040, with the...

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

Actually it's not the GPU that's upgradeable, but the whole video mini-board. You just pull out the old, and in with the new. All dependent on BIOS support etc. And of course in the move from insipron 8200 to 8500/8600, they decided to put an extra fan on the video card, making upgrades not so...

After two days playing here are my conclusions: Extremely fast response compare to CP 995. From Off to On to shooting is instant. In single shot mode it takes em as fast as I can squeeze the trigger. Battery life is excellent, still on the original charge. So much nicer image quality looking...

Got the D70. First impression is that the body is pretty light, my mother has a Nikon F-401 or 501 film body, it's much heavier. Personally I can handle the plastic body, if it gives me a lighter weight. Combined with the kit lens it's only a little heavier than my Coolpix 995, it's easy to hold...

    SCSI problem

You can get a 68pin->80 pin converter. Ideally it would be LVD compatible, for maximum performance. Basically you plug in one end into the drive, then the 68 pin cable and a 4 pin power connector on the other side. You still need termination (at the end of the cable).
