Seasonic Announce New Prime Series PSU's

Looks to me like a Corsair Platinum-rated VS350 is only $130 on Amazon. Or you could get a PicoPSU 150 for $50, which is enough to handle your Intel desktop CPU / NB / SSD / 2.5" HDD / RAM.

Forwarding texts is pretty simple. Phone is at least possible if you have a fully Google Voice-enabled number. I believe it's otherwise blocked by carriers, but you might be able to do some goofy tricks with call forwarding and another VoIP carrier. I can make Vonage calls on my tablet, for example.

Microsoft Storage Spaces vs. RAID Level

It's not quite that straightforward, since the SSD(s) aren't quite just memory cache sitting in top of the array like you might think. What helps more is looking at 1 vs. 2 vs. 4 drives per space. In practice I've found that two (120GB, usually) drives is a happy medium for an 8 drive array but...

I'm not sure how much of a tip this is, but Google Photos will actually back up arbitrary folders on your device's internal storage if you go look under Settings. The whole thing is a bit useless if all your pictures are on an SD card, but Android in general seems to have shed its ability to do...

The thing that I know about David Bowie: He was the guy in Labyrinth! In the late 90s, he sold commoditized securities valued on his future earnings. He set up his own global ISP. This was covered kind of a lot in late-90s tech outlets like Wired Magazine. Philip Glass's 1st Symphony takes its...

I'm sure those will be solid products, but ATX power supplies have been around for what? 20 years now? How much more refinement can there be? Now we can all wait patiently and see what JohnnyGuru has to say about them. Probably good things. Good, expensive things.

    NSK2400 build notes

Gigabyte boards will boot USB drives just fine as long as Legacy boot is still in the Start Options. Some boards default to UEFI only, which is a tiny headache, but one that should already be overcome by the time Linux gets on a PC. So my vote is dying PC. Which is probably cold comfort at this...

    Small case build

Not that we're even remotely on topic but... Down side to those high resolution streams is that they take forever to upload and relatively few people can watch them. It's a little off topic, but speaking of PC rigs on Youtube, I can't believe how often I see some Streamer bragging about their gaming rig with $2000 worth of GPUs and... "I only have a 250GB SSD, so we had to run this one on the recording drive."

Microsoft Storage Spaces vs. RAID Level

There's huge value to the up side, particularly since it's not hardware dependent and allows me to cobble together massive single-machine setups if I want them (which I do). It's also much easier to deal with than ZFS, which is a massive pain to in-place expand and has huge RAM requirements. You...

At one time I had a low profile GTX750 sitting around that I was confusing with a short-depth GTX750Ti. I went with the i3 6100T. In theory the whole thing is going to be using maybe 120W full-bore (if I ever make the GPU do anything) and perhaps ~15W - 20W at idle. That doesn't seem too bad...
