Last I heard Europe had mandated "low-sulfur diesel" and the cars were designed for it. The US had not mandated it yet, but it was coming, so the European diesel cars were not sold here yet. The could have been sold here but it was not advantageous at the time. Either they would have run poorly...

I used to have an Alcatel Speedtouch Home. I have worked with a few Westels. I have worked most often with the Netopias. Probably exactly like Merc. I think the Netopias were the easiest to work with.

AV Software that allows port opening?

I'm actually running MSE on my laptops right now as it is free. I like it ok for the two machines I have my hands on daily. However, installing pre-release software into multiple environments where collectively nodes run into the thousands is not my idea of a safe bet. Anecdotally, my coworker...

    Linksys WAG-160N as modem only

Having you do all of this reconfiguration is going to cost more than the new modem itself. I would try to convince them to shelve it "for the day the modem actually does fail". For that matter, if uptime is critical purchasing an exact drop in replacemnet would be a better use of funds long...

I have had to do this with several ISP supplied Westel DSL router/modems in the distant past. This might help answer some questions: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6405 Other than changing to bridged mode there were a couple other settings that should be changed but I'm drawing a blank right...

Much has been covered regarding your move Merc but I had a couple thoughts. Relocating might be stressful enough that you would welcome being overqualified and bored at work. Just make sure that there is an out to the contract in case you settle in nicely. Try to sell you current client base.

    Virtualizing software.

Does the manufacturer of the program not have any guidance? You need to better determine why the different versions can not coexist on the same OS installation. I would start with the most recent versions and work backward. You also need to determine what the usage needs are. Does the program...

That's exactly what I ended up doing. My current needs were 2 cells of eneloop quality LSD at maximum mAh. I was concerned that that high mAh rating was a flag that they were inferior in the LSD characteristic much like the 2500 mAh AAs. I guess the cutting edge of AAA LSD batteries is still...

    Online backup

Its nice to backup to a constant presence. It increases the level of coordination necessary to backup to a workstation that can be rebooted on a whim or turned off while gone for vacation.
