    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

Well articulated, jtr. Without reference to any person, I will say that I've never understood the ultra-liberal or the ultra-conservative. For all the reasons you mentioned, and more. Your outlook is a mixture of both conservative and liberal thoughts, and I'm like that too. With ref. to China...

    Win 98 and large HDDs

Thanks jtr. I'm a partition freak (won't tell you how many I have  ). The biggest partitions will be 50GB. I use Partition Magic and/or W2k to do all my disk work. W98 is only for reading and occassional writing and image creation.

Will win98 seel all of a hard disk larger than 137GB if it (Win98) is installed within the first 8GB? I mean without installing crapola like Ontrack and disk mfrs' special overlay sw. I'm also wondering of DOS based tools like Ghost and DriveImage (when booted off floppy) are able to see beyond...

    Who's using Mozilla?

Thanks, CityK, I'll check it out. My own browsing of the forums and of the setup features indicates that the only type of RR supported by TB is when the recepient displays it. I'd really piss my recepients if I used it - it pisses me off when somebody sends me a message like that. But I do want...

    Who's using Mozilla?

Thanks, CityK. I was playing around with TB 0.7.3, and noticed that in setup, Return Recipts, you can't specify what kind. In Netscape, I can ask for: a) a RR from the receiving server (which is what I use most of the time for important stuff) b) a read receipt when the recepient displays the...

    Who's using Mozilla?

CityK, thanks for the info! I currently use YP sporadically, only for bulk download of accumulated mail in Yahoo (40-60) into my Netscape 4.x mail client. Do I use the same settings in TB? I.E. change the servers? For Moz, the instructions at YP said to create a new account first, and I don't...

And why? Why not Firefox / T-Bird (if you're using mail in Mozilla)? I'd like to switch to a newer mail program and am wondering which of the above will make sense. Stereodude, I think you and your friends are out of touch with reality. On a metaphysical plane you're absolutely right. But generally speaking, you don't "choose" to be born into poverty, you don't "choose" your parents, etc. There are people that struggle endlessly, making the best choices...

    Revenge is sweet

Most of the time when I want revenge, I feel like Handy does. I want the other person to understand what they caused by their behavior, to see what it's like to be on the receiving end so they don't do it again. This of course applies all the time to willful behavior on the part of the other...

Should I buy a Seagate HDD?

Good find, e_dawg. But your link points to a refurb, my link pointed to a new unit. At least your link proves my supplier isn't providing bad stuff. :D On another note, I really hate to cause anguish, and I know I pained Merc a lot. So the Seagate is still sitting in it's original packing...

Don't know if you're being sarcastic, Sechs. I was browsing Newegg for Samsung hard drives and found the 160GB retail for $110. The bastards pulled the link, and the product does not even show up anymore. I would have thought they'd leave the page alone, just updating it to zero stock or a...

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

Aaaw, that's too bad, Merc. Maybe they're possessed? In my mind, Albatron had always been an ultra cheap, low reliability, dies-as-soon-as-the-warranty-is-over type product. I tend to lump Matsonic in this category as well. I was impressed when you rated Albatron highly, and had made a mental...

Should I buy a Seagate HDD?

I'll repeat again: the warranty had zero (0, zip, zilch, nada) effect on my decision. 95% of the decision was based on price (corroborated by many of the comments above that most brands of drives are alike in most respects) 3% on performance (didn't wan't a slug at any price) and 2% on...

Thanks everybody, I value your opinions, that's why I asked. I bit the bullet (tastes yuck, and I lost a coupla teeth) and bought it.
