First off: Thank you all for taking the time to try and help out.
I love you guys;-)
So far I haven't been able to find a fix, even trying Xerox's more or less universal printing solutions. Tried the 32 bit 5.
Time I have managed to get it to print to my even older HP 4000N network printer...
DD this thread inspired me to at least get the Casati out and put it on rollers in the living room:

Lunar has it right that they are directional and getting around this is one of the neat things they have done with the new bulbs.
My current kludge is a SSD with XP 3 on it. This allows using the laser printer/copier. It really pisses me off that I can't use the Xerox printer/copier in 7. My girlfriend came over and needed to print something off the web.
I'm trying to bring her into this century with Windows 7 on the...
Reminds me of buying an iphone. You pretty much don't have root access to your own laptop.
Roomie has both. iBook with a slow SSD, about the same speed as my Kingspec.
Seems reasonably snappy. Haven't used it for much but watching video. The small form factor combined with an old SSD makes
the...
"I'm making the assumption that it is no longer your main machine because of your sig. I have no problem being proactive. So what does the machine you are replacing have as its dedicated purpose? What does it need to do, that can't be done by your main machine? "
It works as a double duty Home...
I know your a little late to the party and a bit short. The machine is over 6 years old, running an AMD 3800 dual core. Failure of some component is imminent.
It is a bit late to come up with ideas when the patient is dead already.
I find it incredibly ironic when people who have so many...
I tried that. Didn't work on my machine.
The CLV did.
I wish Stanford would send me a check for my electric bill. Or at least something for your dementia.

The last wave in this video has about TEN dolphins taking off on the wave.

A LED directs 100% of it's light out without wasting light being shadowed. The result in my real time application is the LED's appear substantially brighter then their rating, and the MFL appear less bright then their rating.
I'm enjoying the LED's and the fact that they are instant on without...
I'll have to look. I still have Campagnolo stuff on my bike, with bearing etc. Maybe I'm still a few generations behind today. What a shock that would be.;-)...
Appl is really owned by MSFT now. Part of the sealed agreement is that MSFT must finance Appl to stay out of another conviction and fining by the DOJ.
The real give away was right after the case ended, MSFT stock tanked. Appl was driven down to pennies. Then MSFT money jacked Appl up to it's...

Last wave on this feature a dolphin takes off right next to the surfer in red. He sticks his head out of the wave.

Notice that the brighter part of the picture is in the center of this bulb, surrounded by the fluorescent tubing.
Also notice that more light is coming off on the inside of the circle formed by the tube...
Blu-ray playback
I am preparing for the HTPC dying.
It is both a HTPC and an office machine.
Blu-ray playback is the most stressful activity it does. It also has to sync this through an Xplosion sound card.
In the Low powered computer thread Stereodude says,
"Personally, I use my HTPC for...
Hi DD
Are you still on the heavy bike? Probably time to get a light racing bike, with sealed hubs, since you like riding in the rain, and try and find a set of tires that are a compromise between speed and durability.
Thanks Handurin. Next time I buy server quality machines processors et cetera, that is an excellent reference.
No I guess is the other answer.
Comparison becomes particularly problematic when you are comparing a variety of processor families produced at different time periods, or at the same...
I'm trying to establish a baseline of what components are likely to function quickly enough to fulfill office functions and video playback.
Blu-ray does tax some low end systems.
Define the floor of Blu-ray playback for CPUs and GPUs.
At least 27" screen, 1080P.
The point of a benchmark is so...
Precisely what I use a benchmark for.
For instance do you have a benchmark that quantifies the difference between a i7 920 and an i7 3930K?
I can't run out and buy a 3930K to see if I notice the difference video encoding.
I am trying to determine:
1. The fastest.
2. The best bang/buck...
Hi
In this world of processors I am looking for a benchmark that allows comparing different CPUS.
The requirements for the benchmark are:
1. primary a huge database
2. government accuracy
So far the only one I have found with a decent database is passmark.
Does anyone else have a benchmark that...
If the glasses cost more then 2 cent throw aways I might go back. The only thing our local Imax has going for it is it's Klipsch sound system and M wouldn't like that anyway.
It was a takeoff of the slang, "SO yesterday!"
Fairly common with the high school kids, in discussing history meaning anything past last week.
It is also used as a derogatory term for older people ideas concepts and more.
I was enjoying poking a bit of fun at Lunarmist calling my computer...
For me it is an ongoing battle to understand the different slang used in this area. It is generational, racial, class defined, and area specific. It goes so far as each sport has it's own 'in' type language, and slang. My work takes me from
the very rich sports, volleyball-lacrosse to the...
Why is that frustrating? Slang is often the basis for language change. I view it as a pretty high evolution of language use when you take terms understand their meanings, and use them with a subtle twist on the subject matter.
There are other 'sciences' that take common English terms and give...

I realize that with 4400 posts comes some responsibility and respect to the forum and its members
I will do my best to avoid commas and apostrophes since that is your wish oh forum leader
Why not go office style
My current HTPC is around 1000 on Passmark. I'm looking for something that at least doubles that. I'm not sure if keeping either case is a good idea. The 160 seems to have questionable buttons. Fairly simple design without much real cooling design.
The server case is around 40 pounds. It was...
As you have pointed out, I must be language challenged. If I can't speak English, why do you think I care about defiling French? ;-)
Amazing I fooled all those teachers...and then they made me one...
I've considered that. I've gone with uggs, original, before they were uggs uggs, like from 1973. They still hold together, and, the wool is still holding up. Expensive, even back then. Great for apre le surf.
Feet are a major problem. For some reason, the floor in my room is REALLY cold, hence, very cold feet. I have been looking at all kinds of heating options. Just haven't found the right one...
If you live down there, you know it's coming...
There are already places certain ethnic groups can't go, unless they have a death wish. With the cartel connections, come the gangs. They have cars...
