You may also want to limit the size of temporary internet files. Tools --> Options --> Temporary Internet files section --> Settings button. The default is some ungodly #.

I too have organized my data such that I can find anything I want pretty quickly. In those few cases that I can't, the horrid built in windows file search does the job.

For the paranoid (me), I think encrypting + secure wiping is a good idea. For me the time taken to secure erase is no big deal; just let it run overnight.
