    Please rip me off?

A friend sent me the following via email. I don't agree with every bit, but it made me think and certainly laugh. I quote: Subject: Fw: Andy Rooney's tips - Telemarketers Andy Rooney's tips re. Telemarketers Three Little Words That Work !! (1)The three little words are: "Hold On, Please..."...

    Frickin' techie miracle

'Course not, Free - the PATA spec included this capability from day one. Buck really intended to say that Merc was going to hot swap an XP1700+ overclocked to 2700+. Not that there's any problem with that either.

I read this stuff eons ago in an even older issue of Playboy. I don't know if there'd be a copyright problem; it's at least 23 years old. There was no PC around or copier handy, and I wrote all this down by hand -- a labor of love. Read it all, or it's no fun. There's a cadence/rythm to it...

    Memory Upgrade : 256 MB Dimms on a P2L97

I guess it depends on the chipset revisions, or when the board was made? I also have an Abit BH6, purchased soon after it was released, and it has only 3 DIMM slots, supports only 384MB. IIRC, it does support 256<B DIMMs.

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

I love the way you guys phrase things here! I actually went to several car parts stores looking for those manuals that would tell me how so I could do it myself, but either this problem was not even mentioned or had something silly like "take off door panel, replace, put panel back on again"...

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

Blake, thanks for the detailed info! Basically, I shopped around like crazy, calling on the phone. The dealer wanted to replace the assembly + motor for ~ $340+. All others, including AAA approved, said labor would range from ~ $90 to $200, with parts extra, and no clue as to how much the parts...

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

Sorry to hear about the clutch, tim. Noise is relative. My '94 Camry is significantly quieter than my wife's '99 Civic LX, which has unbearable (for me) noise (road & wind) and harshness levels. We don't listen to any music in it, and have to shout at each other. But compared to your Jeep, it's...

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

Absolutely. That was the reason for my comment that I felt that Hondas were sluggish. 99% of my driving is in the city. And in CA, where you have to merge into a bunch of banshees flashing by, it's painful to drive a sluggish vehicle. My car is a '94 Camry V6 Automatic with 160k miles (it's the...

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

Merc, Fushigi already said everything there is to say, but in a nutshell, reliability & warranty + safety & efifciency. While this is not automatically true for every new car purchased, with a little bit of care in the selection, these objectives can easily be achieved. And honestly, I think a...

For the umpteenth time. I'm trying to install in VMWare 4.0, from my Lite-on 16x DVD-ROM drive (which has worked flawlessly so far). Virtual m/cs in VMware use the BX chipset (which is what my real m/c is anyway!). I first downloaded the .iso files from an unofficial mirror (which I found on...
