24TB in a single box is now possible.

For $360 I'd want something other than a Sil SATA controller and support for 8GB RAM. And the onboard sound was kinda weak. And you have to shell out for a high-end AMD chip on top of all that.

24TB in a single box is now possible.

Actually I moved a lot of my porn collection out to tapes a few months ago. I got tired of not having any free space and moving my porn off my file servers freed up about 3TB (which is 6TB, since that's stuff that isn't mirrored any more, either). Now I have room for new porn!

    PS3 media machine...?

S*ny is not allowed to have any of my money, ever. Plus I don't like console systems, even as a concept. And I don't Fold because Folding is a pain in the ass. Why was my name invoked here, again? I did briefly have an Xbox360, but having played the game for long enough to realize that I...

    Something Random

Let's put it this way: I found a half gallon of milk with a September 2005 expiration date. It was pushed in the back of the fridge so it was completely frozen, so I didn't have to figure out exactly how spoiled it was. That's still pretty bad.

    Old cable modems = slow?

Speed tests are going to be variable, but moreso when you're testing from two different places that could be anywhere on earth. My understanding is that cable companies can flash modems on their network with firmware updates to control connection speeds. I've heard of folks hacking their modems...

Thank you for, uh, whatever that was, uda. 1. I don't consider my viewpoint extreme. In the US, it might be, but that's only because the US doesn't have a leftist political party. The Democrats would be a right-wing party in most of Europe. 2. "Libertarian" has, in recent years, become a...

    Vista Business 'N'

Wrong. Microsoft lost an antitrust case brought by Realplayer in the EU Supreme Court. Removing Media Player was part of the consent decree to resolve the suit. As I understand it, just today they were found in contempt in the EU again. I wish the US had actual consumer protection laws. It...

Honestly? You're asking that? Moderate positions by-and-large end up seeming mushy and indecisive. By appealing to the middle, you end up being truly appealing to pretty much no one. Going to one extreme or the other makes you vastly more appealing to a smaller core audience, presumably one that...

Small Rant / Warning about Eset NOD32

Sometimes folks get pissy about software licenses for one-off purchases if there isn't something physical to go along with it. Normally I'd refer you to the top of the thread but... Woot sells one item per day, unless it is wooting off. If it is wooting, every time an item sells out, a new item goes up. My all time favorite woots are Ethernet-over-Powerline adapters and Harmony 659 remote controls.
