SATA 22-pin Male to Female: Where to buy cheap?

I have a couple bridge boards that are designed to connect two standard SATA cables and a standard molex power connection. They came with some Gigabyte motherboards that I got a couple years ago.

    SATA DVD

I've used literally dozens of those NEC SATA drives without incident. Are you sure you don't have some marginal media? Win2k has the same fundamental drivers and file-handling characteristics as XP. I sincerely doubt that it is the cause of any problems. Also, AFAIK, SATA drives don't have PIO...

Yup, the servers were all part of the same domain. I also found out that they used pretty much the most obvious password known to man (the same as their registered domain name) and none of their internal machines even had the built in Windows Firewall running. Yes, knowing that, they pretty...

I was once eating lunch in Chicago's Chinatown. I went into a restaurant, a little hole in the wall place that just smelled spicy and awesome. Also, technically, 192.168.x.y is supposed to be a /16 and not a /24, so using it as a class B sized network is certainly valid.

    Network Architecture thoughts

I know that your setup would talk if it were with a bunch of stuff on interconnected LANs and with entirely static routes. I'm less sure how well it would work over wide area links and I am thinking there is probably a good performance-related reason to not do things that way.

Here's a fun idea for the non-Smoothwall types (I've never used one): OpenWRT - the alternative Linux-based firmware for the WRT54G(L) - has a Samba client. That means it can address external storage, even without a local drive. And it can run a bittorrent client. I'm not sure if there's a...

Putting a machine in DMZ means that it's not being protected by a firewall. Honestly, it should be the very straightforward matter of forwarding the port twice. If that's not working, you need to make some alternative arrangements. A few thing that occur to me: 1. Put the PC on your second router's DMZ. 2. Plug the PC into the semi-public network. 3. Create a Virtual...

Windows isn't a "desktop OS" - Windows is Windows, with some tunable parameters for desktop, application or file server workloads.
