Spamihilator appears to work marvelously. I just set it up for some of my lab machines and from the default settings it caught about 85% of the crap in each machine's mail queue (average of 70 mails). Setup was painless and best of all the program is free.

That's how it should be, blake. You should backup /home anyway. It's like backing up \documents and settings on a Windows machine. Everything user-created should be there (including mail folders).

That's pretty typical if you're using WU IMAPd. Or you could be lazy and leave everything in /var/spool like I do at home. Makes backups a bit easier. :)

I bought a bunch of newish, dead drives off ebay a few weeks ago. $30 + shipping got me a little over 300GB of disks. All but one had a usable warranty (the one was a 30GB compaq OEM drive). I had to send them all in as RMAs, but for maybe $70 all told, I'm more than happy with "bulk storage".

To summarize: 5400rpm drives are going away, SATA drives are beginning to be adopted, enterprise SCSI is moving to 15,000rpm, and, to give away the ending, drive manufactures are gonna ship more drives this year than last. That took cold, hard look at the industry, didn't it? ;)

Manuals and BIOSes can be found here. PC Partner made WAY too many VX motherboards for me to guess as to a single procedure. PC Partner's site is slow beyond rational comprehension, BTW.
