I've run XP and Server 2003 on the same machine for a while (currently only WinXP). For the most part I found S2003 to feel much superior to WinXP, although with a fresh XP install it's pretty comparable.

Actually, root cause analysis is a faily new addition to the medical curriculum. Not that learning about comptuers is bad. But wouldn't you prefer that all cars be more reliable, so instead of wasting money fixing them we could use all that effort to do something worthwhile?

This afternoon I compressed a few other things that I rarely use and wasn't mostly jpgs or other files that were already compressed. For most of those they compressed to ~60% of their original size with WinZip (into .zip) on standard settings.

Thanks JKKJ. On my system Foobar 2000 uses 6-7 MB while running, vs 25 for Winamp. I still prefer Winamp, but when I'm just streaming music it's not worth the extra RAM that I'm too cheap to upgrade.

What do people use/like for playing MP3 streams in Windows. In my recent SuSE install I am using Amarok, which does a great job of simply playing streams. In Windows I've used Winamp since the 1.x days, but I fear its getting a bit bloated these days. Thoughts?

A review of Flock

I was wrong - Dynamic Disks can be read just fine, at least with my SuSE install. Now the problem is getting a mass storage drive (hdc2) on that Dynamic Disk automagically mounted at boot time, and with permissions to allow everybody (or at least my single user) to read/write/execute everything...

Wow, I'm a moron. My school-provided laptop was a D600, not a 600M. I turned it in months ago, so I've kindof forgotten such details.

I've had an Inspiron 8200 for 3+ years now, and used a 600M for the first two years of med school, provided by my employer. The 8200 is so-so quality wise, but I was impressed with the 600M. I beat the daylights out of it for 2-years and it never flinched. Except the powercord did die on it...

Yeah, and by just hitting the center button it does pop up the date and time. And yes, I always have my palm with me on the wards. But it's just a tad easier to glance at my wrist, and a major force of habit as I've been wearing a watch since I was in elementary school.
