How to tell which type of key I have for XP Pro?

Some of my studens have been bitching about WGA problems on their PCs, but I haven't run into a problem with it yet on machines that I deal with personally. How big of a problem is it?

This software is a helper program that allows DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to do their job even against up-to-date copy protection. I am thinking that I'm not the only person with a use for such a thing.

When I run across a disc that isn't in CDDB (happens often, as there aren't a lot of classical listeners among contributors to FreeDB or Gracenote), I add it myself. Takes five minutes. Boxes for storing bare hard drives?

My WD boxes are filled with RAGE. And used kitty litter. Anyway, try asking at a computer shop. When I buy a case of drives, they come in a nice box with pre-cut foam, which is exactly what you need. You could also make something like that yourself, if you have a decent-sized piece of foam.

How to tell which type of key I have for XP Pro?

This crap is one of my biggest Windows pet peeves. If there's any confusion at all about which disc and which key go together, I just use my Volume Licensed disc. Screw it. As long as there's a sticker or something the user can point to that proves they have a copy of Windows, they can say...

    Windows *Vista*

The industry rags are pretty much Microsoft's bitches regardless; one of the reasons why sites like the Register and the Inquirer are so damned nice to have around is that they don't report on that kind of fluffy crap. Granted, sometimes they're completely wrong, but so are the trade magazines.

It's very probably easier to mount and copy over /home from the old machine to the new machine after you build it and install whatever. TrueImage is probably a better choice than Retrospect. I don't think so. I think Seagate is just trying to find buyers for high-margin products which don't have a tremendous demand in the marketplace yet. At the same time, Seagate is also pushing ahead with improvements to their disk products; they announced a patent for nanotube-lubricant based...
