    9950X3D/4090 Watercooled Build

Every AM5 other than the 7500F has at least enough iGPU to give video out, so no reason to involve an iffy discrete card if you don't want to.

    BIOS Updates

I don't know. Asus has in my experience an amazing ability to fuck up motherboards with terrible firmware. Like not offering user control over thermal warnings and shutdowns or not being able to choose which SATA port to boot from for just no reason. I know they're well regarded, but I won't buy...

The more RAM you have and the higher it's clocked, the longer it takes. It EASILY took a half hour before 96GB of DDR5-6400 posted on my system. Also I wound up running my EXPO RAM at DDR5-6000 anyway because I was seeing a bluescreen every few weeks and clocking the RAM down seemed to fix it.

    Need a Decent Phone

If you buy your phone direct through Samsung, you can pick up your phone at a retail partner and you'll have the option to buy Samsung Care directly along with the phone. IIRC it was like $120 for two years of coverage, which includes theft and loss protection. Repairs are USUALLY covered at...

Believe it or not, my renter's insurance policy includes the contents of my car up to a total value of $50k. I work with a lot of insurance agents and shopping for that was important to my choice of policy. A few years ago I was blamed (not actually at fault, but blamed) for police vehicle...

Yeah. I wind up hauling stuff around a lot of different places. My partner was roasting me over it until I suggested we go spelunking around her vanity next. I bet $100 I could find more expensive little tubes and jars on the floor than everything I found in my car. It's not entirely her fault...

Cleaned out my car today. There's a tendency in cold months for stuff to just get tossed in the back, and especially since I've been giving friends with kids rides all winter and car seats absolutely cause chaos in my life. The prizes for this year's spring cleaning included a shrinkwrapp...

    Need a Decent Phone

I got to experience Samsung Care+ service for the first time yesterday. My phone slipped out of my hoodie while I was getting gas. It hit the corner of a concrete pedestal the pump was on at just the right angle to shatter the top-left corner of my phone's screen. Yes, my phone was in a bumper...

I'm 95% sure that there were in fact 802.11g USB adapters with 9x drivers. Is that a path you've followed or is there some reason you don't want to go that route? I'm thinking you might have better luck finding USB than something using a PC card slot.

I think Intel has already admitted that fabrication is a huge issue. They're pretty open that they're second rate, much like AMD did when they spun off Global Foundries. Not everyone needs 3nm TSMC wafers and not everybody can even compete to buy them. Intel has moved its fabs to a separate...

It appears that there are no plans to release any higher end Battlemage GPUs. Intel didn't bring it up at all during its Tech Conference earlier in the week and I'm assuming that's not good news. In a "Hey, this thing is kind of cool!", I found a Logitech G Cloud at a pawn shop on the north side of Chicago yesterday, a place I like to hit up for used photography gear moreso than anything else. The games industry has sucked a lot of fun out of games in general. You might do well to look at the genre called Boomer Shooters. HX370 is kind of a pain for Linux. Most distros aren't loading a 6.10 kernel from the base system image and don't have fully updated support firmware, in spite of these systems being nine months old. I wound up installing Rocky in text mode. It really brought me back. I'm using a pair of...
