    SAS Expander IC tutorial

Are there app notes or tutorials on how to use a SAS expander IC like the ones from LSI or PMC? thanks for any tips

    SAS/SATA Expander IC?

thanks for that. looks like that type of device is what I will have to use. They several models to choose from.

    SAS/SATA Expander IC?

ok. thanks. I think this architecture will require me to use the RAID controller which is limited to 8 SAS/SAtaS. So I really need to find, hopefully, the simplest way to expand a single SAS/SATA to 6 drives. I have 6 x 6 drives, 1 set per SAS/SATA 3G.

    Large cycle connector for 3Gbps?

How about a connector that would connect a 3G SAS or SATA interface from a card to a backplane. Is there a mfr who makes one that is rated for large number of connect remove cycles? Thanks for the help!.

    SAS/SATA Expander IC?

Im looking for a simple IC expander solution to support a Host via RAID Controller (ATTO) to 6 solid state drives. I see LSI and PMC have devices for 24 or more ports. These seem to require some development other glue logic or interfaces to get them to work. Is there a simple drop in and use...

Any 256GB SSDs SLC in 2.5" size?

could be. Smart Modular Technologies makes a EMLC with 30,000 write cycles. (SLC is 100,000). Cheap like MLC.

Any 256GB SSDs SLC in 2.5" size?

its a special application, cost is not an issue for these. Any idea who might make a 256GB SLC?

Any 256GB SSDs SLC in 2.5" size?

Do you know of any product or any manufacturer who may have announced a 2.5" Solid State Drive that using SLC technology (SAS or SATAII). Thanks in advance!

    SAS Expander bottleneck?

Thanks. I just wanted to confirm my belief. Worse case is a SAS to each drive which is not bad since the controller Im looking at has 8. thanks again

    SAS Expander bottleneck?

SAS states a throughput of 3 (or 6Gbps). So if an expander is used, ultimately all the drives on that layer are bottlenecked by the single 3Gbps SAS interface to the host controller? I attempted to attach a simple block diagram to help illustrate. thanks for any insight

Fiber Channel to SATA or SAS conversion?

Those units will do the job! Can you suggest other companies that my have similar products just so I have a selection? SAS looks like it can be cabled up to 14m distant. So I would have sets of 4 256G SSDs RAIDed by the unit and connected by 4 cables. (FC Host to SAS RAID). This particular...

Fiber Channel to SATA or SAS conversion?

I'm upgrading a system that currently runs from a 4GFC RAID rack mount unit via fiber several meters away to external packs (JBOD) of spinning disks. I'm Looking to replace with the spinners with solid state drives. Appear the vast majority of dense SSDs are in the 2.5" format are only...

    RAID SSD controller?

Im looking at packaging Solid State Drives into a RAID array for write speed. Who makes these sorts of controllers? thank you
