Just in case I gave it another 20 minute shot right now. Even 96GB should be faster than that, and the code of 00 on the motherboard implies that it didn't even get to the memory yet. Replacement board should arrive today.

    BIOS Updates

While there are plenty of complaints about ASUS, I haven't heard of that issue in years. Also, considering the market share ASUS enjoys, a larger number of complaints wouldn't necessarily imply a lower quality product. (Though their warranty handling issues of last year are concerning).

    9950X3D/4090 Watercooled Build

Got the build far enough along that I was able to flash the BIOS to the latest and power it on. The POST codes on the motherboard never leave "00", so either the board or chip is bad. There have been rumours of ASRock having issues with AM5, so I've ordered an ASUS PRIME X870-P that should be...

I remember from the last time I was driving beaters that the car insurance wouldn't cover the contents of the car for more than the value of the car. You both might be under-insured on that ;) My new car, at $3,600, gets liability only and has nothing inside at all besides a jumper box and a...

It started when I was able to get an order in for a Thermal Grizzly delidded 9950X3D. Every couple weeks there is an hour or so where the item is "in stock" and the rest of the time you are SoL. To properly cool the delidded CPU, I got a direct-die water block for it. That meant custom water...

I may have gone a bit crazy ordering parts the other day and will be starting my new build in a few weeks once everything arrives. Historically I've always been able to shave a few mm from a fit with basic hand tools. Usually it is as simple as using side cutters to shave off some decorative plastic somewhere. If a part fit is tight, just take a look at the image and see if there is room to be saved.

5090FE power connectors are already melting. From some videos I've seen, it seems that they simply wired together all the 12v lines in the 12VHP connector and shunted them as a whole, so there is no active control over how much power goes over each wire. Derbauer had a melted one in his hands...
