The big push in TVs is for 4K TVs. But is there any content on cable or satellite that is 4K?

What's the big deal?

So far only streaming delivers UHD content. UHD Blu-Ray is supposed to be released for the Christmas buying season.

Youtube and Netflix have 4k streaming and there's 4k porn because of course there is, but AFAIK there's no TV-based standard for delivering a 4k stream, nor any boxes that support decoding it. I don't even think Fox broadcasts in 1080p yet.

I suppose I should have said "Telecasts." I believe it's at least possible to get a 1080p signal from at least some cable or satellite boxes from all the major networks except Fox.

Apparently the UltraHD Blu-ray spec has been finalized, question is if they will work on anything apart from the few HDTVs that support HDMI 2.0 along with HDCP 2.2. The new spec does support some kind of HDR which the 2015 model year Samsung 4k tvs support.

For me the question is about what kind of DRM they're going to stick on it. All my 4k screens are operating as computer monitors.

Because companies that make TVs learned a new trick and they want to show it off and who cares about viewing angles anyway?

I should have been more specific. I am seeing more TVs and monitors that are curved.
I pissed off the sales guy in an appliance store. I ask him why their curved TV wasn't on the wall with the rest of the TVs, so you can compare it to the other TVs. He started telling me how they wanted to showcase the TV so everyone could see how great it was. I replied that the reason it wasn't on the wall with the rest is because the the picture is the same.

He left me alone after that.

At the moment standard displays are getting very competitive with projection systems even up to 75"+. Unless projection gets much better very soon I'll be switching to a regular TV for the next refresh.
