I'm double posting this because some might not check the FS section. Seagate is selling 750GB Barracuda ES 7200 RPM SATA HDDs for $225 under the Seagate Partner Program.

Just ordered mine, I'll probably just resell it on eBay. :)

I'd like to have 10. :D

My current upgrade strategy is to move to two powerful fileservers to replace the five I have now. I'm thinking Core 2 Duos or maybe X2s , 4GB RAM.
I'm going to move my storage to SATA enclosures. The rackmount chassis I have now aren't designed for hotswap drives. Bleh.

It would be something of a dream come true to have all my storage on maybe just 10 drives instead of around 30.

I'm doing a much smaller scale of what you need. I want two of them in my Dell power edge for a file server in RAID 1.

Mmmm... arbitrage.

I wasn't planning on getting one, but if someone is interested, I'd be happy to exercise my option... for a small fee....

Merc was first to ask me so he gets mine.

Merc- You can just send me a check for whatever amount you deem appropriate. I can't remember the total at the moment but I think the total was about $243. Will let you know...

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your order on 07/27/06 for the Barracuda ES Drive from Seagate, model number: ST3750640NS. We sincerely apologize, however, we have made an error on this order.

These drives are sold in packages of three at $225.00 each, not three for $225. Therefore, the total charge should have been $675.00.

Looks like I won't be doing this unless Merc. (or someone else if Merc doesn't want'em) can give me ca$h up front....

That is cool by me. I can Paypal the money or I can send it USPS in personal check or money order form. I'm sure there is someone else around here that would want to get in on this if Merc doesn't want to. Or if all else fails I will take two of them.

No problemo. I don't mind PayPal but I just want to make sure I break even after all my costs (paypal fees, shipping etc.)

I will kick in extra for shipping, etc (can pay via paypal/check, whichever you prefer). I'll buy two like I suggested before if you need to get rid of more. But before I commit 100%...do these drives come with a warranty from seagate?

I'll confirm the warranty stuff. If that's good, I'll just have them charge & ship & let you guys know so you can send payment quick.

Just got off the phone. Warranty is good and three drives should be shipping to me shortly. Damn the CS rep sounded like she was a cutie. :)

Do you know how much I owe? Also can you include how much it will cost to ship to me?

Thanks for helping us out Clocker!

I'll let you know when I get the email from them but they were charging $18 to ship the single drive, initially.

Just to confirm, I think the only fair way to do this is one drive for each of you so that's what I'm gonna do. :)

I agree with that. Maybe another member that can order drives will get 3 more and we can play this game all over again.

That's fine with me. I was only offering to buy the 2nd drive if Mercutio didn't want it.

As if I wouldn't want 750GB of extra disk space! Even if it is Seagate.

I signed up for the Seagate thing and I'm not seeing the special offers, either so
name your price, Clocker.

Yay I found it!

Well, OK. 4x750GB (if I get one from Clocker) will be very useful to my future plans for high definition pr0n storage.

Here's the direct link. You're obviously not going to get anywhere unless you're logged in.

I originally registered using my role as Technology Director for my training company. I went back and re-registered, basically indicating my interests as an IT Service Contractor, which include things like Low-Cost Servers and NAS. That may be enterprise-ish enough to qualify for that promotion.

Man, I'm going to want to dump a bunch of 250GB drives soon.
Anyone up for trading 40s and 80s for 250s?

I can't login using the account I registered a couple days ago. I guess it's a totally different section once you qualify?

I have a couple 80's that you guys donated a while back. :) But they're WD's...

I qualified as well, in my role as owner of the game center and as operator of a business consulting/system building company.

If you all are looking to throw away your 40gb or larger drives, just toss them in this general direction . . . ;) I'll even pay a little more than shipping.

Yeah I know I'm shameless. I was just kidding. Sort of.

Still have NOT heard from Seagate.

I e-mailed the CS rep. @ the company they are working through and told them to cancel the order if it is not processed today. Will let you know if I hear anything.
