Can you specify what program you use to do the deployment from USB and what you had to do to make he USB drive bootable?

Acronis TrueImage.
I installed it and checked the option to make removable storage bootable.

Just about everything new enough to deploy TO can handle booting off USB.

They are more reliable than floppies.
