A company without Exchange?

I have a client with ~300 office users. They have Exchange 2003 and Outlook 97-2003. They use E-Mail and web mail, some of them even have contacts and calendars, but none of them use shared anything. No one publishes their calendar or to-do list. The only thing they share is the "global list" of e-mail users.

If I wanted to get these people away from Exchange, what OSS package would you recommend? I would still need webmail and AD integration.

Installed their pre-configured LAMP package
Installed Courier-IMAP
Got the tar.gz for phpGW extracted to my home dir
still need to learn how to move files around and start screwing with config files via command line....

There's like eighty-hundred-kaspillion blogs about doing the switch to Ubuntu from Windows. They can't all suck. Find some and read them.
There's probably something worthwhile on lifehacker.com or something.
