Anyone try this? I just got invited to the Beta, and I don't even really know what it is. Looks like a funky application of bittorrent, but only to your friends?

If anyone wants an invitation, I can get you one. Just PM me.

Allpeers seems like a good and happy thing, from what I've read. I'll take an invite if you've still got 'em.

I just went to install on my new system (old one fried) and it seems to have borked my FF install. I must admit I was doing some sketchy OC'ing at the time, but now I have no extensions and it killed my profile. Recognising I was likely the cause with my OC+undervolt combo, I tried to re-install the extensions and re-create the profile....but it won't go.

I'll be installing FF again and re-doing everything, you will recieve an invite as soon as I can get in.

I am "mercutio" on AllPeers.
I'll be keeping some >100MB porn clips, some classical music and some comic book scans on my share list for the forseeable future.

As someone who leaves firefox open pretty much constantly between version upgrades without any difficulties, Allpeers has had a decidedly negative effect on my browser's stability. I still have it installed on one PC, but between the UI and the occasional crash, I don't think it's something I'd bother to reinstall.

I agree. It is klunky, slow, has a poor AI, and doesn't work that well. Setting up something similar yet different would be nice.

I have uninstalled it too. I didn't like the file limitation and the UI was a bit clunky/slow.

I actually ended up installing it no less than 10 minutes after that post. It messed up a bunch of Javascript/sound/flash functionality. Yech :(.

More realistically, I could probably stick it behind .htaccess and hand out logins as needed. That's a decent start IMO.

I've never hosted my own torrent, would it be done in the same tracker location as yours or would I need to host my own? I'd be interested to learn more.

You would use my tracker to host the .torrent file you create. The upstream bandwidth would be your own to give up.

I'll have to look into actually doing this.

I wonder if there are any web tools like iso hunt available online that coiuld be installed to make this easier? I'll take a look when I get home tonight.

IsoHunt is just a site that indexes multiple torrent trackers.
I spend quite a bit of time on Demonoid.com, which is members-only and used to be invite only. That's the kind of model I'm thinking of.

Porn, porn, classical (porn) music, porn, comics, and porn. Yes. Those things.

I'm looking for some kind of non-sucky-to-install Tracker software. I see a lot of things that look annoying to install and a lot of things that are easy but also buggy and broken.
