Basically, the less expensive one is better anyway. It is designed to run cooler and consume less power, but it can be run hotter before problems occur. An ideal situation from an overclocker's perspective IMHO.

4400+ X2 CPU ordered. Anyone looking for a nicely overclockable San Diego core?

When you upgrade from a single core to a dual core CPU, I assume a reinstall of WinXP is NOT required. But, is there anything I'll have to do?

Thanks,

Did a little looking around and found this:

Change the computer type:

* 1. Go to device manager
* 2. Open the Computer node
* 3. Right click the option that shows (probably ACPI Uniprocessor PC or Standard PC) and select properties
* 4. Click the driver tab
* 5. Click the update driver button
* 6. Select no, then click next
* 7. Select install from a specific location, then click next
* 8. Click the don't search option, then click next
* 9. Select ACPI Multiprocessor PC from the list and click next
* 10. Follow the prompts and reboot when prompted

From what I recall, going from Standard to Multi is fine, going back from dual to single can cause issues.

XP worked great...automatically detected the new X2 processor and changed the HAL for me.
