Anyone else sees a "warn" bar at SR?

Beginning today, I see a "warn level" bar aside to my name at SR. Yet, I haven't received any message from the moderators complaining about my posts. Anyone else sees that when they log at SR?

With all the mental retards posting freely in their forum nowadays (there's a fair share of worthy members too), they better not warn me of anything as there's a lot people there being far more abusive than I can be. If a warning indeed they give me (for whatever reason), be sure I'll work hard to deserve my next one.

It's a new feature of the Invision BBS system that has been compiled into the current release (SR just upgraded to a new version of their forum software). Basically, it supposedly helps the moderators maintain civility by letting everyone know they're being watched. Everyone starts at 0%. If you should happen to post something that warrants a warning, they will increase your warn level accordingly (+20% for a typical infraction, maybe, and +50% for something very serious). You can only see your own Warn Level, but rest assured everyone has one below their name.

Damn, can someone delete two of those. For some reason the forum wasn't telling me it was posting, so I kept hitting the Submit button. Posting has been real slow lately.

It's good to know I'm just not imagining that. If it weren't for a few dozen regulars(and I'm noticing some are posting less and less) there would be nothing there worth reading these days. I think it's mostly the RAID0 and "what's the fastest drive" threads that bother me, but it seems the very same people that start these threads have a poor grasp of other technical subjects as well.

First time I saw the warning bar there I thought maybe I pissed someone off.

BTW, I think with this post my SF post count is ahead of my SR post count for the first time, ever. This was not intentional on my part, but I don't find too many interesting topics there any more that haven't already been discussed ad nauseum. It seems EU vs US and/or religion manage to work their way into too many B&G topics these days.

Your warning level has just gained 20% per unnecessary post. You're already at 40%. Better be careful: You don't want to get to 100%

Damn SR is really going for the dogs. Besides the spate of religious and geopolitical threads, there are B&G subjects such as "Electric razor Suggestions - my 21 birthday is coming soon...", "Acne", "Dynamic Dicks" and "high school - advice please."

Maybe it would help if each stupid RAID 0 post at SR added another 20% warning. Mention of HDTach should be worth a 20% warning and SiSandra should be worth a 40% warning. :mrgrn:

Lunar, copy/paste the above immediately on a post at SR.

Oh no, Mark making humor again! A cataclysm must be near. Last time it happened, I think it was just before the WTC attack.

Every once in a blue moon my self control lapses and a little bit of someone else escapes.

Hi Mark! Good to see you!

Prompted by this thread, I slipped over to SR, duly made a post in the computing forum for everyone to ignore, saw that I had a 0% warning, decided it was lucky Tea ain't around anymore, slipped back here.

SR remains somewhere in my top ten most-visited websites, near the bottom, but still in there. It's a sad commentary on my hectic lifestyle these days that this was my first visit there for three or four months. :(

A open forum is a place where people can express their feelings and thoughts with out fear of discrimination unfortunately SR is like the republican conservatives they only wish to hear or read what they deam to be correct this of course will lead to a one sided discussion and a dictatorship is this not the beginning of a terrorist institution.

I can't remember a time when people didn't lament the deteriorating state of SR...

Having said that, there have been promising new members joining SR from time to time and the odd interesting discussion about storage. One of the more recent ones is Gilbo discussing RAID on the desktop. Check out this thread, which is a promising discussion on RAID, desktop usage patterns, and SR's DriveMark testing.

I am hopeful that Gilbo and company can hang in there and take this discussion to another level -- something that hasn't happened as often since the veterans left after the MBF 2001. In fact, I invite you guys to participate in this discussion, and especially want your input on SR's application level benchmarks. I assume that, unlike on SR, not everyone here takes it as gospel? I would appreciate some objective feedback from folks who usually have something insightful to say.

I am omnipresent
I never participated in SR's benchmarking discussions anyway.
SR just became a place where I wasn't all that interested in spending my time. I don't like the BB software being used there, and I don't like the more-and-more frequent use of IM-speak in posts, the regular incivility in the B&G and most of all, I don't have the impression I'm talking to people who are interested in what I might have to say.

a few more thoughts on SR determination to be a dictatorial regime.

has anyone thought about "Show detailed by"Last Click or Member Name, is this not a Police control or even a new weapon in homeland security.he he.

the simple fact of the matter is when two people or more enter into a discussion it is expect they have a difference of opinion or you stifle creative thinking Which is the republican conservatives worse nightmare,Just think what would happen to the world if everybody could say what they were thinking about the control of the Water supply,The Electricity supply and not forgetting the Food supply, these three items which are taken for granted by many but are a every day nightmare for many more, do you not think if normal people were to gain control of these items it would become the Republican conservatives nightmare When they see their riches dwindling away.

its.fubar,

Why do you feel the need to post your rhetoric in every single thread. Make a thread called "Why I don't like Republican Conservatism" and post your thoughts there. It is absolutely annoying to read the same thing posted in every thread in the P&B. Most regulars here read every thread so if you have said something once that should be enough.

Thank you for your consideration.

timwhit,

I thought the idea of a forum was to express your views whenever the possibility arise, your criticism is just reinforcing my thoughts on republicans conservatives that do not like criticism and exposure for their way of life.

Many thanks for showing me your consideration.

Are you trying to get me banned from SR now? ;)

Did I ever say that I was a republican or a conservative. Actually I am neither, I don't feel any connection to any political party in the United States. I don't think I need to tell other people what to think either.

what you read into a discussion is entirely up to you but I suggest that you read what I have written once again I believe that you will see I was only answering Your reply and not suggesting that you are THIS or THAT.

as usual many thanks for the consideration that you are showing me.
