I just ran ATTO on two SATA drives. One, a Seagate 7200.7 80GB and the other a WD Raptor, 36GB. Both were attached to a 3Ware controller and both had Server 2003 installed on them.
What I find odd is the ATTO scores were same for both drives. ~59MB for both read and writes. I expected the Raptor to be faster.
Disk density??? :?: The 3Ware controller???

They're both single platter drives. The higher sectors per track of the Seagate compensates for the higher spin rate of the Raptor.

But Atto measure sequential transfers, not overall disk performance. The Raptor will kill the Seagate in real applications.

At least, that's my understanding.

IIRC the WD360 is a much older drive, so 59 MB/sec. sounds about right. Did you sheck the SR database? My 400GB 7200.8 drives have a sustained read transfer rate of 70MB sec. max. Perhaps yours has lower density platters.
