I have 2 computers:
#1 = Core-2-Duo E6420 @3.7GHz 4GB RAM Server 2008 x64
#2 = Core-2-Duo E6550 @3.4GHz 4GB RAM Server 2003 x64
I have been experimenting with different folding setups. What would you suggest as the optimum setup? The SMP Client seems real slow on either computer.

Unless you have video cards that can fold, SMP is the next best.

With my 2008, I run Linux under Hyper-V with the -advmethods flag to get the A2 Core WU's.

I set both computers up to run SMP with the -smp, -local, and -advmethods switches.
It looks like the SMP version of folding was wrote for quad cores.

It was but as long as you can complete by the deadline then everything is good. SMP has a 100% bonus compared to the uniprocessor clients so it is far more efficient than two convential clients.

Both my computers have completed their task and have spent the last 3+ hours trying to connect to the F@H server. They can't upload the work or download new work.
Is this normal?

No there is a big power-outage at Stanford. Untill it clears up, nothing's going through. Same thing is happening to me ...

Hmmm...It's almost noon here on the East Coast and still no connectivity to Stanford.
Must be some major problems.

Both computers claim work was sent to F@H but nothing shows up in my record, even after 12 hours.

Becomming frustrated with smp.

It is my understanding that because of the power-outage, their servers were overwelmed. So they suspended the statistics servers untill the backlog could be fixed.

I don't think the problem had anything to do with smp. However, if you are more comfortable with the regular WU's then that's OK. SMP is definately something that requires more handholding and is not for everyone.

Points finally showed up. Now to see if things improve after the power outage.
Still running SMP.

I give up...for now. I keep getting fatal errors with SMP. When I did get it to run, it took 48 hours to complete 18% and then crashed.

Maybe I'll run the standard for a while.
