F*cking malware, IMO.
There are a few posts around about how it slows things down, but according to some it can also leave a trail of garbage behind it when it's uninstalled.
That's IF you can uninstall it. For me, it went through the motions and removed itself from the uninstall list, but otherwise did absolutely f*cking nothing. All files and folders, shortcuts present and accounted for, a scheduling service running and two autorun entries in the registry.
Reinstalling achieved nothing.
You can't get support from Acronis unless you register the product, and even then, because it's 'free', you're up against it.
I ended up having to kill 30-40 entries in the registry, including a handful that I had to grant myself permissions to delete (System only). Deep roots for a not-very-good SMART monitor ...
