Hey gang,
As some of you know from another thread, I'm doing some backup work which involves backing up to DVD. In the past I've used a CD wallet thingy for CD and DVDs, but over the years I've found a number of bad disks. I'm not sure if it's due to small scratches inherent in this system, or problems with the dye in the media, or something else. Regardless, for some of my long-term backup to DVD, I'd prefer something more like a jewel case that won't involve the data-side of the media touching anything. Does anybody know of a system like this that can hold multiple DVDs? I was thinking about something like this: http://www.1-ads.net/images/595091-1.jpg
Have you guys had problems with data reliability in CD sleeves?

I am omnipresent
It's not sleeves and it's not cases. It's the media.
As the media becomes less expensive, quality control goes out the window. Crummy discs from TDK or Maxell or S*ny or Memorex are, well, crummy. And there isn't much you can do about it.

That said, meritline.com and supermediastore.com both have a decent selection of storage options. I use binders for my stuff and paper sleeves for anything I need to transport. Jewel cases take up too damned much space.

I have the best luck with Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-Rs.

I'll second Merc; scratches aren't your problem, the media available these days just sucks. I remember reading somewhere that the best way to archive something is to keep it on hard drives that are well taken care of.
