I'm looking for the cheapest copier that will do 11"x17". The load won't be large, and it will be in a crappy environment so it won't last long. The Canon imageRUNNER 3025 is a bit under $3k. Are there any desktop models capable of 11"x17"?

My office has a couple el cheapo Mustek 11x17" scanners that we use with a Canon large-format printer. You could probably buy that combination ten times over for what that copier costs.

I'm afraid the scanner isn't an option, more than one button would only confuse them. I couldn't find any cheaper than $3k, but I figured I'd ask.

vetting....define 11"x17" copier.

Define uses (B mor descriptive...flush out all your parameters/requirements/wants/needs/quality/paper handling, connectivity, etc).

Brother makes an AIO 11x17 inkjet @~$300, it does 'copy'...being an AIO it also scans :)

Thanks, uda. And very tempting, but inkjet is likely too far from what they will be expecting. I will pass on the information and see if they'll take it.

For the purpose of this conversation, let's call an 11x17 copier a device where you put an 11x17 original in, press one button, and get an 11x17 duplicate out. Laser would be nice, color not needed.

From what I can see on the Brother site, they AIOs you were talking about can print 11x17, but can only scan 8.5x17. That is dumb, and rules them out.

It turns out that you must not have looked very hard. The Toshiba E-Studio 166 can copy 11x17 and appears to be available for under $800. The Copystar CS-1635 can copy 11x17 and appears to be available for under $600.

I didn't know Toshiba made copiers, and I've never heard of Copystar. I searched all the manufacturers I knew and went talked to the local service techs. Thanks for the tips.

Copystar is Kyocera's copier brand.

It's amazing what you can find when you do a Google Product search for 11x17 copier. :p

Ah, thanks. I knew Kyocera Mita, and did search there, but didn't find anything. It seems that no one allows you to sort/search by this feature.

Wrong model. The MFC6490CW scans A3/11x17 for US$300. Being a large format inkjet, it's apparently pretty slow, if that's an issue.

The Kyocera/CopyStar obviously sounds more like what you were looking for. Good pickup from Stereodude.
