Hi Guys,

Just some quick background:

There's more on SR if you wish to search for it.

Well, basically was on the phone with my ex-wife last night... well, let's back a second...

About 5 weeks ago, I was following up on our divorce proceedings only to find that the courts had "misplaced" our paperwork and needed to resubmit everything again from scratch (and the photocopies we had weren't good enough). I contacted her, and let her know what was going on and she was going to get the paperwork redrawn up and get them to me to sign.

Well, she called last night to say that she's had the paperwork redone and will be forwarding it to me shortly... (We're using her legal services to keep costs down).

And also to let me know that she's engaged to be married again! WTF?

The beautiful thing was, I don't care, well a part of me does, but overall I couldn't care less.

Anyway, she meet him through work roughly 18 months ago (which was after we separated), but have only been dating for 3 months? I don't know if it's because of the values I have, but getting engaged after 3 months, seems a little too quick?

Now, while I've just started dating again myself, (I wanted to make sure I found myself again before getting into another relationship, hence why being single for some time), I certainly wouldn't be asking a chick I had been dating for 3 months to marry me? (I've been seeing someone myself for the past few weeks, so know where I'm coming from).

But has anyone else been in similar or heard of similar? Are women really that desperate for companionship that they'll do anything for it?

Oh crap Chewy, see Mercurtio's latest...if you want to feel better ;).

But, however, LMFAO...if only we could get jtr in here to comment! (not to diss jtr, just he's got his own unique perspective, different from ddrueding, or others, maybe something close to how I think *oh no!*.

But right now, after a whole bottle of wine (Gilbe where are you? ), and I'm writing this while reruns of 'Sex in the City' are running, lol. I have nothing particularly profound to say (umm, FS says I do 'psychotic rants' quite well it seems...lol, I could drink FS under the table and still be more logical than most ;) ) I can only say, Paul McCartney is going through a divorce. The love of his life for <30 yrs, and mother of his children, dies from breast cancer, and less than 2 yrs later Paul is married to some woman, that a few years later he is divorcing, lol. So, let's not diss women, as we all know we can site examples of silly men. I mean, how can you instantenously get over the love of your life, fall in love with some woman, and then get married to her and seeing how you are worth mroe than a billion dollars, you don't have your lawyer have her sing a prenuptioal???? She screws Paul for 3 years and wlll probably get $300Mil or more...the ultimate whore?

As I said before Chewy, don't obsess, move forward and end this part of your history. Life is short, learn from your mistakes and move FORWARD. You only torment yourself when you keep looking at people or women in your past. Look forward with optimism, and focus on the good women you have yet to meet.

/end rant

So, what about that SR/storage geeks tour of Asian to conicide with the 2008 Olympics in Bejiing??? (personally I am a winter weather person, with exception of the phenomilaly hot Ms Aqau GUI hottie who's wearing white cotton T-tops even during So. Cal's warm winter months :), and would rather hit Asian during the milder, less humid winter months...winter Olypimcs anyone?)., We know jtr likes the little Chinese women (Cantonese are usually those who are shorter in height and size, and which are in my blood from my mother's side going back several gernerations). Hmm, are all the 'new' generation of Chinese or Asian women so modernized and Westernized, that we don't like them anymore???

Must be that silly 'Sex in the City' show I'm sort of ...uh, huh, Charlotte just took all of her clothes off, and keeps saying she's "sexual" and she's
I'm touching myself"...Hello!

"that night, Trey successfully screwed his wife for a whole 1 and a half minutes"...hehe, what a silly show!

I'm sorry, due to a whole bottle of wine, I loss the context of you post Chewy...but still, if we go do an Asian tour, I'm sure we I can get us hooked up with my friend's female president, who own's an 'escort' business in Kobe, Japan. (not that we can find other 'entertainment' on such a tour, but still...:) ).

Well Chewy, I find myself in the opposite situation. On wednesday I helped Olga move out of her husband's house while he was at work. She moved in with me. They've been "seperated" for about 2 months. We've been talking marraige/house/kids for about 1 month. Of course, I won't formally propose until her divorce is final, but yeah, sometime it works that way.

Also, as an aside on marraige/divorce (and kind of a distillation of some of udaman's stuff). I believe that a marraige is worth exactly what the people in the marraige value it at. And there is a "weakest link" element in here as well. A marraige itself is worth nothing more than those in the marraige believe.

I am omnipresent
My ex started the process of moving in with her first girlfriend while we were still living together. :(

I'm with ddrueding on the value of marriage. It's essentially an arrangement between two people that can mean whatever they want it to with some legal paperwork attached.
There is a lot of social preconceptions attached to the idea because for so long it's been religiously and socially/morally (mostly for religious reasons admittedly) significant and still is if that's what the people involved want to believe in, but I don't think it can or should be limited to that.

Hi Udaman,

This was just a post to let everyone know how the drama is unfolding in my life.

It's also just my way of of self-therapy.

And to follow on with the online dating thing, well Justine and I meet online, and things have been going slowly but steady. (We meet about 5 weeks ago). She seems a little stand-offish at times, but I'm pretty sure that's because of a few bad relationships she'd had in the past, and not me...

However I'm still getting some further hits with my online dating profile, but none seem to spark an interest on my part, not to say that they're not nice or anything, just nothing that sparks an interest.

And ddrueding, I do agree; marriage is what you believe it is...

Someone told me the key to marriage is to make the decision to love that person every day. When you stop making that decision daily, you will start drifting apart.

I've been with my wife since high school. About 15 years and we've been married for 7.

I don't think anyone should get married before they live together for a couple years. If you think of marriage as permanent, as you should if you want it to last, those 2 years are a very small investment to find out if you can live with this person the rest of your life.

hmmm, nice technique. but it's too technical for me

I'm planning to have a ceremony in about 2 years to celebrate our 35th.

I do think of marriage as permanent. My eldest daughter does, too. But right now, she's separated (for the first time) from her husband. I think you have to want to be together, no matter what. But, yeah, sometimes something comes along which you might feel is not worth the sacrifice. Then you separate.

Only two months ago, my wife told me, she wanted to leave me. I was totally surprised! I couldn't understand why she'd want to. I wasn't guiltless, but I've been bad far worse in our younger years than that which precipitated her thought of leaving.

Hmmm, I'm not making sense again. Too much time on my hands.
