Two may be cheaper but I hate the bezel line in the middle on a dual setup. Plus no component input or memory card reader, and I would need a vid card with two DVI connectors. Of course two 24s....

Pradeep, when yours arrives, can you measure the distance from the top of the upper bevel to the bottom of the lower bevel? (And the top of the actual screen to the bottom of the screen if you can.) The Dell website is pretty useless as it only gives the diagonal measurement of the screen, and for the whole monitor it only gives the measurements including the stand.

Assuming it has precisely a 24" diagonal, some Greek guy (from many centuries ago) says it is 12.72" high and 20.35" wide....pixel pitch, incidently, would be .2692mm.

No, cause we already know that the aspect ratio is 16:10...that expression is in terms of a single variable of measurement, so all we have to do is formulate Pythagoras accordingly. i.e.: (10x)^2 + (16x)^2 = (24 inches)^2

Just saw on ARS that dell.ca has a non stackable $350 coupon (NMG5T8ZC9K$6WB) that works on the 2005FP, bringing the price down to $599. (I confirmed it works)

I tried it on the 2405 but its not applicable. Booooo!

Hopefully this is a good sign that Dell.ca will start to offer all kinds of coupons etc like they do for US dell customers.

Every new monitor has shown up on TCO first, then datasheets, then Dell's website. It ain't on TCO. Ergo, it ain't real.

It's only a matter of time. The Dell 24" undercuts the Apple 24" quite substantially, they are probably eyeing the profits to be made on the 30" size.

The only bad news is 30" won't fit under my hutch, the 24" has 1/2" clearance.

I somewhat-recently bought a 23-inch NEC (a.k.a. -- NEC/Mitshubishi) LCD2335WXM for dirt cheap (non-factory resealed). The price was definitely good, but half the reason I bought it was that it has a built-in television (standard definition). I have an inexpensive recent-generation HDTV receiver that I can hook up to it if I want. Otherwise, I've been using it as a large computer monitor until I point the remote at it and turn on the television. It will do Picture-In-Picture, but I find it somewhat annoying to try to operate the computer with a little tele picture in my view, and putting the computer video into a small window makes it rather hard to see what's what. So, I basically like just one or the other -- the computer or the tele.

Yes, I can do component HD from my Samsung HD receiver to the NEC monitor via DVI-D.

I currently use the Samsung receiver to send HDTV transmissions to my 35-inch standard definition television (i.e. -- enjoy HDTV programme material without a quickly-obsoleting HD tele around). The Samsung receiver has digital down-conversion capabilities. Actually, I watch this material as progressive scan video via analogue component connections (my 35-inch tele can handle progressive scan video), but, I could watch interlaced S-video output if I needed to.

Ah, the Samsung 451? I have one myself, only problem I find is that can't go directly to a sub-channel, have to push the channel up button multiple times.
