Hi

Anyone know what kind of motherboards Dell is using in it's workstation Xeon machines, and it's P4 based systems?

Thanks

AFAIK, Dell uses bog-standard Intel motherboards for everything. They say Dell on them, but they're as Intel as can be.

I thought Dell was attached at the hip with Intel amd MS.

There's a french phrase for that; but I can't spell it

I had to swap out a dodgy Dell Xeon (Nocona) mobo the other day (serial port 1 was cactus). Intel of course.

One screw removed and out she came, if there's one thing they do well it's making machines that are easy to swap parts out of (mind you this is a Precision 470, I dunno what their Dimension turdboxes are like).

My PowerEdge SC420 is similar to the Precision's case. Very easy to open the case and swap out parts.

Plus the fact that every single replacement step is well documented on their website. To get the same info out of a Sony guy, you would have to apply wattage to his sensitive parts.
