I've been trying various GPS apps for the phone and am not completely satisfied with them for the battery life and how they handle signal loss and phone standby.
My 2008 handheld is dropping tracks occasionally and the display is flickering more and more so I may buy a new one.
I noticed that the phone now has two GPS receiver systems, the basic GPS and the Russian Glasnost.
Info on the webs is limited as to whether the receivers with the Glasnost are better, though the Russians claim their system excels at extreme latitudes.
Does anyone have experience with recent models that have both receivers and is the accuracy any better? I will be ranging from about 80°N to the equator to 60°S over the next year or so.
Thanks.
