Firefox Window resizes

I've had this problem from day 1, with every version. With some web pages, but happens more with images. When I click on a link (and it either opens in the same tab or in a new one), the entire FF window will resize to a smaller size. This new size can be as small as 2" x 2". Aaaaaaargh! I've put up with this for a long time, but it's driving me crazy now. I've always run TabBrowser Extensions. I've checked every option everywhere, but can't find where I could fix this.

Help, please?

I saw a bug in bugzilla about this...
It has to do with the open links in option and javascript attempting to resize the new window. It resizes everything not just the new tab.
Blake Ross reported the bug.
You might try changing that option to something other than a new tab.

I've never run into this behavior. Perhaps it has something to do with using tabbrowser?

Happens to me all the time.

It is because of Tabbrowser extensions.

Let us know if you find a fix.

I was implying the opposite -- that I *wasn't* experiencing this *because* I have tabbrowser.

Here's a link you can try.

Now in the upper left area, immediately to the left of the image, click on "see it larger". This should spawn a new tab, and the entire window resizes to a smaller area.

Do you have TabBrowser Extensions installed? I believe I have it set to never open a new window unless I ask for it to. The default is to open a new tab.

AHA! I tried ctrl-middle click, and it opened a new tab and didn't resize! The difficulty is, though, knowing beforehand which links will cause a resize (most don't). We could always ctrl-middle click I suppose...

I have TabBrowser set to load new links in new tabs, and I get a new window.

If I right-click and choose open in new tab, i get it in a new tab -- no resizing.

How do you have these options set?

If it helps any I do not have TB installed.

However, when I click on the "see it larger" link I get a new window that is too small but resizes to fit the picture once the picture downloads.

I just installed TBE and I get the same results as I described above.

I don't appear to have these options. What version of TabBrowser are you using?

Those options have been there from day one in TabBrowser Extensions. I've been using FF from ~ ver. 0.7 (if there was such a version).

I'm using 1.14.2005030801

Are you sure you have Tabnrowser Extensions and not Tabbrowser Preferences?

That should read "TabBrowser Extensions Preferences". Sorry about that. I just updated to 1.14.2005031002 after seeing your post. Thanks, TimWhit.

OK, I see an issue.
According to this thread on Mozillazine which I only glanced at, most of the functions from TBE were incorporated into Firefox itself and most people then began to rely on TBPE and others. Apparently TBE was also bloated and slow so you'ld get an additional benefit from switching.

Supposedly this is the second coming:

It used to be available at http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/. Now that URL goes to
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox/, and TBE is not listed anymore. Weird.

mubs, I believe the change in mozilla website (texturizer -> mozilla update) was a part of their initiative to strengthen their branding and overall website organization.

Anyways, you can find both Tab-something-or-others at the Extention Room.

I would agree. I used to have it installed back maybe around when I used FF v0.7, but I found it caused a number of problems and so just dispensed with it forever.

Thank you so much, Howell! I'm going to dump TBE right now, and switch to TBPE. I really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks to you as well for the clarification, CityK.

That's what makes this a great place (hope you're beaming, Doug!)

I just removed all previous versions of FireFox and Mozilla from my system, including the deletion of any folders and files (except I exported my bookmarks), installed 1.0.1 and I still don't have the resize problem. :eekers:

What is the difference between the stuff at "addons.update.mozilla.org" and "extensionroom.mozdev.org"? I don't like having multiple places to go. Having a single place gives an "officially sanctioned" feel.

The the extention room is run by Mozdev.ogr. The difference between them and Mozilla is addressed here.

And although I don't like de-centralization either, the nice thing about the extention room is that things don't seem to mysteriously disappear (for whatever reasons) like they do on update.mozilla, as mubs has recently discovered.
