How many full 15.2 GB write/read cycles should I use to best test new memory cards? Ideally I'd like to pass most of the infant mortality curve, but of course at some point they will wear out. 5, 10, 50, 100???

I didn't think CF cards had infant mortality problems. They're probably good for at least 1000 cycles.

Has anyone had one just wear out? EDS and physical shock aside...

Should be up in the tens to hundreds of thousands range for good flash??

I am omnipresent
I've seen people on Slashdot claiming to have CF-based Linux appliances that have been running for four and five years without issue. Completely anecdotal, but if that's the case then the wear leveling problems might have been fixed for some time.

I recall reading somewhere that SLC was 100K, whereas MLC was only 10K or something. I'm not worried about wearing it out, but finding a bad one early.
