The link works for me. So the question is what did you do wrong -- click on the wrong button or simply use a non-M$ browser?

Still works fine for me. I suppose it could be that I have cookie: It autologs me on to the site.

Ahh, so quick to accuse...

Absolutely nothing. Clicked on the link with FF1.5.07. Completely blank screen. Tried IE 6.0. Same thing. Cookies are enabled, so is JS. Given that others have problems, what is your issue? ;)

I logged out, for testing purposes, and now I can't go to that web site either. I get a pure white blank page. So, something strange is going on.

All the thread is is a collection of people reporting times for a variety of different cards. The table is the condenced summery of PPD (Points per day) and for most would be what is useful.

The real point of this is to show what GPU's produce what level of folding production so that those that are planning on buying cards for folding can intelligently choose.

Currently, to run the GPU client, one has to drop a CPU client. So for example my dual core X2 4600+ which can get 160 PPD per core nets 320 ppd but using an x1900XT produces 360 GPU PPD + 160 CPU PPD = 520 PPD instead of 320 PPD (62% increase in PPD).

Also, you can incorporate the amount of Power used by the GPU client using this reference:GPU power usage. Trying to attempt to compare apples to apples produces a rough extimate of 260W instead of 195W (Energy costs increase 33%).

That's really the purpose of my two posts. The URL's are only references, so that people here can see where all this is all coming from.

I contacted the forums and they know the problem and are in the process of fixing it. It appears that, for some unknown reason, the forums are not issuing new sessions, so that no one that isn't already logged in can access the forums.

Who needs your stinking GPU!

Project 1495 Gromacs 364 points.

X2 3800+ 371ppd (@ 2.4GHz)
A64 3200+ 313ppd

C2D Notebook @ 2GHz

I've no idea. I have seen a few posts that say the C2D is particulary fast on these, and a couple of other projects, but generally, the C2D is only a little faster than and X2, clock for clock. In a couple of cases, the X2 is faster. It's like the GPU's, they are very fast on some WU, and I'm not sure that they can run more general purpose WU's at all. Maybe Mark knows.

Wish I could get more of those projects though...

Is the C2D that fast, or is it another QMD-related thing?

p1495 is more like a QMD than anything else. It produces spectatular PPD's especially with the new Intel processors.

The problem is that they are currently only sporaticly being given. At the moment, all my machines are being given slow gromacs with only a very occasional p1495.

Currently the GPU WU's are applicable only to the GPU. It is my understanding, that there will be no crossover between conventional WU's and the GPU WU's.

The P1495 is just plain a spectacular point producer. But specificly it does extremely well with core 2 duo processors. With my X2 4600's I can generate around 295-350 PPD per core using p1495 but there are reports of 600-900/per core PPD on low end core-2-Duo machines. The lower numbers being running p1495's on both cores and the upper numbers being one p1495 and one standard WU.

And yes, I wish my machines would just plain fill up with p1495's instead of my current slow gromacs which are producing 80-120PPD/Core. Unfortunately, ever since they were released out of beta, the p1495's have been only been given out infrequently.
