Well, it's certainly started here, being a mere two hours off the international dateline. So is Sydney, but they cheat with daylight saving, just so they can celebrate first (after New Zealand etc, but they don't count ).

So, Happy New Year one and all in slower parts. Just remember, Australia leads the world again this year. If you want to catch up, you'll have to live here.

Merc more or less echoed my thoughts on the New Year. At least I have an excuse to get drunk once a year and watch the Twilight Zone all day. Outside of that I don't see that anything is different from last year, or the year before. Same crap in the papers each day, same powerless feeling to do anything about it. On the bright side, I made more money than the year power. On the not so bright side, Suzette died in July and my non-online social life and/or love life is as non-existent as the year before. At least I have this place. Thanks everyone for listening to my rants for another year. :drinka:

Hi CougTek,

I watched the fireworks on telly. A couple of years ago, I went out and watched the fireworks outside the Sydney Opera House in the public areas. Being in the celebratory mood and it was a hot day, I had a few drinks too many and was busting to go to the loo after the fireworks. I was horrified to see the line stretching 2 circles. Not only that, the women were also queuing in the men's toilets!
For year 2003, I decided to watch the fireworks in the comfort of my lounge room with drinks and loo close by
