32GB DDR4 LRDIMM sticks are still quite rare. It's easier to find the HP part number 726722-S21 than almost any other similar module. Although it is obviously not on Supermicro's compatibility list for their X10 motherboards, since the memory controller is on the processor, I would expect an HP module to work on a Supermicro motherboard.

Anyone here tried something similar with a recent Supermicro server board? With DDR3 or DDR4? I know Supermicro's support wouldn't bless such a mix, but with the kind of support I expect from Supermicro around here, I don't think I'd lose much.

It's been my experience with Intel, Tyan and Supermicro server products that if it's not specifically compatible, it's a crapshoot, especially if you're thinking about mix and match with something else or filling every bank with it. Not to say I wouldn't try it, but make sure the return/restock policy is acceptable before you buy.
