What's more fun is that each chain has it's own models from each manufacturer, so you can't directly compare.

You might find one that you like at one store, and another store won't have it. But they'll have something comparable -- but subtly different in some way.
So true. This infuriated me no end....

Cool. Go for the queen size and maybe find a lady to christen it with.

The, uh, possible candidate is getting an ovarian cyst removed, oh, right about now, actually, and she probably isn't going to want to think about any amount of christening. Plus, she is all the way over by Groltz so it would have to be a very large bed if I wanted to do something like that.

Damn. You seem to find the women with medical problems. :erm:

Where is Groltz, in Minnesota?

I used to chat with him on occasion outside of SF, but something happened and I think maybe I upset him (not sure why), so he changed his avatar and info to read banned. He in no way is banned.

For whatever it is worth, his last post was in 2006 and the last time he's been here feb 2009.

She's in Laramie most of the time.

Her tumor was 35lbs. She lost a quarter of her body weight. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that.

As DD said, I'm surprised she didn't notice earlier. Poor thing must have suffered with so huge a mass in her insides.

I wish I had a 25% tumor that could be removed from my stomach and ass. :)

I've been three different places and haven't made a decision yet. I really don't notice a difference between a $500 mattress and a $1400 one. I suppose the more expensive ones last longer but I don't know that for sure.

Check the weight. Higher grade foam - and possibly more springs - is heavier. If you can barely lift it, it's likely to contain expensive (= durable) materials.

Buy the ~$1000 one. I'm sure the $500 one is probably weak in some areas.

Did you finally get the bed for Christmas? Is your ladyfriend recovering?
