Thinking goin with WD Caviar 1000JB. But I havent been able to to find any good comparative reviews of the big guns: IBM, WD, Maxtor (maybe Seagate).

Whats your opinion on this guys? Whos da "Big Daddy" performance wise at the moment?!

Ciao,

Check out the Data Base at http://www.StorageReview.com where you can compare all of these drives head to head if you wish. Or if you want a quick answer check out the leader board there. Personally I'd go with the WD 1000 version with the 8mb cache.

Ditto to what Flagreen wrote. Western Digital also recently launch their 120GB 7.2k rpm Special Edition. If 100GB isn't enough for you, then you might be interested in their 120GB model. The model number is WD1200JB and you can purchase it directly from their web site, although they don't let it go for peanuts (359U$).
