Very humid in our place. We are supposed to be entering our Rainy Season and have had 3 typhoons already, 2 of them very destructive.
The Weather Service says we will have around 10 more before the year is over.
Normal temp here is 30-32 deg C. Bearable unless humid. When its humid, people start to complain.

The news is reporting tornados in the Chicago/northern Indiana area.

Bozo - The tornadoes were mostly 30+ miles south of my place (far western suburbs). We had a lot of heavy wind but didn't even have any real rain during the 'event'. There were also some tornadoes way north of the city. Hopefully Timwhit will chime in and of course, we're all waiting to see a post from Merc, who lives in northwestern Indiana.
Our weather issue has been somewhat high temps (90ish deg F) plus high humidity. I probably sweated twice my norm while mowing the lawn yesterday.

And here in south-east Australia, the "abnormal" pattern of recent years continues: significantly hotter and less settled, slightly less dry than usual summer weather with a distinct hint of the monsoons that are supposed to cut out ~2000 kilometres north of here, followed by a mild, warmish autumn with the odd severe cold snap and almost entirely lacking in rain, then a winter barely any better.
I say "abnormal" because it clearly isn't abnormal at all anymore: we have changed the climate and it will just get worse as the years go by.
Ballarat water storages are currently holding 7.3% of capacity. And the ultra-morons in charge of the city are trying their best to double the population.

The tornadoes that I saw on the news were mostly around 25-30 miles directly south of the city, which is right about where my parents live. This was around 6pm yesterday, I didn't watch any TV after that.

I feel you, here in PA as well.
We just got back from an b-day parting at highland orchard.
While nice enough, the 15 minute hay ride was almost not enjoyable.
And today about 4-6:30 we have snackbar duty at the local little league.
And my son has a game at 5pm. Not looking forward to that.
Thank goodness for central air.

it's 92F with 60% humidity at my house. In the house it's 74 with 54% humidity. So, yes, it's hot.

Got an email from jtr this morning. Think he is suffering the worst of all SF members (probably almost as bad for Handy). He did a run of CPF parts past couple of weeks which have his carpel tunnel syndrome kicking in with lots of pain...like Gilbo, jtr, I'm for some reason genetically flawed/adapted to cooler weather.
Where jtr is, its summer rain & heat...ugh!!!!

Either way, just in the last few days the higher humidity, anything above 50% RH, no matter what the temp, has me sweating streams down the side of my head, like a junkie going through severe withdraw symptoms. I'm fine if there is a constant breeze and I don't move, lol. Soon as I put my body into motion, the internal temperature regulation goes askew, simply walking up and down the stairs at my friends place in SM, got met sweating like crazy...least thats my mothers theory. I have a genetic disposition to be a couch potato, I think. Up to 78F with very low humidity, I"m fine as long as I move very slowly, below 60F is where I can move a little faster without breaking a sweat. 50F is better still.

Hot = very severe weather last night here.
First our power went out and stayed out for about 11 hours here (before the storm really even started). Then we had two crazy gusts of wind that were definitely a lot stronger than the reported 70MPH. Several of the trees in the woods right behind our house snapped. Thankfully they fell into the woods and not onto my house. Then we got to spend some quality time in the basement when the Tornado warning sirens went off. Then lastly, we spent the evening in the dark without any power. Thankfully I am a rabid flashlight junkie with quite the collection, so there weren't any problems there.

The fact that people even mention that California has earthquakes is ridiculous considering the frequency and damage of tornadoes and hurricanes.
Yesterday was a really, really windy one in Monterey, like 30 knots (35mph). I had to change to the small (90%) head sail less than a mile from the harbor (still headed out, of course).

Crazy flooding in the midwest. The whole lake drained, and the irony is that the dam held! They successfully reinforced it with sand bags. In retrospect I guess it's pretty obvious they should have let the overflow go over top of the dam...

My nephew in Southern Indiana got caught by a flooded road last night. He was driving some unfamiliar roads and got lost. Then he slammed into some water & his car stalled. Luckily the water was only slightly above the floorpan of the cabin and lucky again also that the engine did eventually start. He was able to slowly back out & reverse his course. But the car stalled for good while he was heading back to familiar grounds.
He had it towed and it appears the only real damage was the air filter was soaked which caused the stalling. I'm hoping it doesn't develop any electrical glitches as that can sometimes happen when car bits are submerged. And I advised him to get the cabin thoroughly dired out before any mold/mildew issues crop up.

The first day of fishing season is when all the idiots come down to the harbor. Some of these guys just bought a boat, some only come down once a year. All of them drink massive amounts of beer while they are out for the day. The ones that don't fall off their boats with their pants around their ankles and drown then get to try to get their boats out.
One particular guy backed in so far that he submerged the exhaust pipes of his truck, stalled it, and rolled back until the water was about 1/3 up the windows. It took 3 guys to get the door open with all that water on it, and the driver was really scared.

There's more than enough positive pressure in the exhaust system of a car or truck to keep it running even if the tip of the exhaust is submerged. Something else must have happened. And, why didn't he apply the brakes?

Ahhhh. Thunderstorms! Cool breezes! I feel so much better. A big storm just tore through here and everything smells/feels so much better.
P.S. Lowering all the blinds in my house when I leave for work in the morning makes a noticeable difference in terms of heat build up during the day. That may be obvious to everyone else, but I never really bothered before.

Yup. My place is not very well insulated, but it is usually better to keep the windows and blinds closed until about 3PM. The inside temperature lags behind the outside provided I'm not making too much heat inside (cooking, lighting, projector, etc).

Uggg, they said is would be a little cooler today, they were wrong...little hotter @99F, AW says it's currently 93F downtown, but I doubt that as here on the westside I'm reading 95F in the shade.
Hong Kong currently @6:31AM 79F(26C) and 88%RH with predicted high of 33C(91F)...I hate humidity.
Similar in Beijing @95F(35C) for a high, 83%RH...e_dawg is going to be panting profusely @Olympics I predict.
