I read a few reviews about the LG IPS226V monitor and they were all quite positive. Since I'm in the market for a new monitor due to some recent unfortunate events, this is the one my budget hates the less among monitors I consider to be acceptable. I can't find if it's a 6-bit or an 8-bit panel. Specifications hint at 8-bit (16.7 million colors instead of 16.2 million). It only consumes 27W.

In the meanwhile, I bought a used Viewsonic VP191 19" 1280x1024 with a scratch in the middle of the screen. 45$ with a DVI and two D-sub inputs. It will be a good secondary monitor when I get a good primary monitor.

I noticed these a few weeks ago, but haven't bought one yet. The US price appears to be inflated, I can buy the 23" version (IPS236V) for less than the 21.5" model you cited.

There's also the IPS231P, which drops the HDMI input but adds speakers and a height-adjustable stand with pivot (supposedly). Newegg has it for $240, but it's a mere $177 here!
