The @%^&* cable company has forced the dreaded digital boxes in the area now and the audio dynamic range is extreme and inconsistent. Are there any compact and inexpensive line level stereo audio compressors available? (In the 1970s we used dbx 117, 118, 119, etc. boxes for such needs.) I don't need perfect sound quality, just something that will be used between the system and the TV RCA audio inputs. Thanks for any ideas.

I'm sure what you mean. I want to compress the two audio channels. Of course a multi-band compressor is better, but I figure everything should be computerized or automated by now. I am so out of the loops.
