Thanks for testing my horizontal scrolling for me, Bill. ;)

Only Maxtor drive I've ever bought has been one of their OneTouch models and it's now on replacement #3 after less than 6 months.

I bought a lot of Seagate drives with my Maxtor paychecks.

I think mine is a 6Y, I'll have to check my records at home.
I'm definitely using a maxtor on an nforce4 though.
Not as my boot drive but where all my important data resides.

Does this affect boards based on the NForce4 Professional chipset, such as the Supermicro HD8CE?

OK, OK! I hate horizontal scrolling too—but I can't think the last time I actually posted a long URL anywhere.

I have now gone to TinyURL to see what it's about, how to use it and I promise not to do it again.

It would. But only if NCQ is enabled I believe. That's why Linux users haven't experienced these data corruption problems, our current SATA driver doesn't support NCQ.

Oh, so this problem only affects the on-board SATA ports? No worries, we're running Areca RAID controllers.

Thanks for the info Gilbo
