I realize the stats are broken, but for other statistics:

Database size: 111.89 MB
Database record count: 2,189,591

Month of December 2004 Stats(*):

Unique visitors = 7,019
Number of visits = 12,533
Pages = (1.78 visits/visitor) 92,090
Hits = (7.34 pages/visit) 288,358
Bandwidth = (23 hits/visit) 3.32 GB(277.38 KB/visit)

(*) - These results are non-typical for an average month at sf. This is due to the mass attack from the phpbb worm that was spreading during the month of December.

For comparison, the month of November 2004:

Unique visitors = 4,995
Number of visits = 9,705
Pages = (1.94 visits/visitor) 86,805
Hits = (8.94 pages/visit) 312,937
Bandwidth = (32.24 hits/visit) 2.18 GB (236.06 KB/visit)

Has anyone noticed that we happy few have now racked up 64K posts? (Give or take a few units here and there.) That is some serious yakking!

UPDATE: Just about to bust through 86 kiloposts.

PS: Tea, would you PM "CNN Sport" and "The Grammar Police" and tell them they need to update their avatar images?

And where the hell are the embeddable smileys?

Can you open the User CP and go to Edit Options. Scroll to the bottom and look in the section labeled "Miscellaneous Options". What setting do you have for "Message Editor Interface"? Can you try setting it to "Standard Editor", save the changes, and then reply to another post. Do you now see the embded smilies in the right side?

I looked at your profile in the admin section and you did have the basic interface enabled. I've switched it to the standard one, can you let me know if you now see smilies on the right side of the posting text box window?

I found your old avatar (in the new forum) and added it to your profile.

I was happy until I tried to use it:

You have included 11 images in your message. You are limited to using 5 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.[/quote]

Despite that, thanks for enabling my smileys.

time...I'm trying to help, but passive aggressiveness drives me insane. If you're mad about the changes please say so directly...not indirectly.

Try using it again. There should now be no limit to the number of images posted. If it gets abused, I'll fix the abusing posts.

They're not buttons. They're icons.

Buttons have a graphical action when clicked.

This was an old thread!!!

Just realized it. Usually hit the "new posts" button and saw it for the first time. I assumed it was a new thread and started reading it as such until I got down to the last post. Wha!?

Reviving old threads happens quite a bit here, paugie.
Whether it is because we are such a small group and new posting members are few, so we tend to bring back threads we know about... or maybe it is just the habit of some of the older members here.

100K posts, woohoo.

I know Mercutio is very good at reviving old threads (among others). I've seen several that he's dug up, only to add new data that was still relevant.

I'd chalk it up to the old-timers. I remembered there was already a thread on the total number of posts, so I could bring it back.

I think there are not so many old timersn here, mostyl 50s or the lesser, and the younger geenration in a majority. Mercurtio is 10% of the totals. :)

When I say old-timers, I mean in relation to the age of the site. The 8 most prevalent posters signed up within days of the site starting, and are responsible for ~40% of the posts. Therefore most of the traffic is made by people who can remember what has been mentioned before, reviving a thread instead of making a new one.

Also, I think most of the posters here are not n00bs, and make thread topics general enough to cover a lot of ground.

Bringing back the "old threads" is good because it tends to keep relevant information together, and reduces "thread clutter", making searching easier

You could always just try to replace your original 6200 posts here. I also recommend getting Firefox with a spell checker, though I think other people have suggested this in the past to no avail.

No, I've already reacvhed over 6200 on other board. FureFox I tried once but it caused many probelms. The basic FF is raher limited, and I don;t have the time nor inclination to search for all those extendibles needed and constaant upgrades.

Firefox's spell checker has a very limited range. You have to be very close, and it doesn't have any contextual guessing capabilities. I don't think it would do much good.

Further, IIRC, Eric uses a laptop and simply doesn't put much effort into correcting typos.
