Pray provide some links. Besides, I said "without meat". There are billions who are lacto-veg, and their health is not any worse off than the non-veg population. The protein thing is a myth. Milk is not good for you (yogurt is). Governments actively promote bad "science" for shortsighted reasons.

I eat at nice steakhouses at least twice a week; links to a few of them are below. I'd like to think I can tell the difference between a good and bad steak.

Ah, so you did. A technicality I overlooked. I have no problem with lacto-veg. But hell will freeze over before I give up my bacon.
As Sechs alluded to, making cows sick so they will produce more milk and then pumping them full of anti-biotics is not something I want to put into my body. Somebody gave me some fresh, raw goat's milk last week. I'm looking for a source for raw cow's milk currently.

I picked up a small quantity of goat's milk from a big grocery chain acouple of years back. My wife taunted me that I wouldn't drink it, and I swore I'd prove her wrong. I bravely had some about three times, and then ate crow and tossed it out. Couldn't stand the pungent odor. Gandhi used to drink only goat's milk. Guess it's an acquired taste. My tolerance for cow's milk is better, but I don't like that either. Isn't it strange that humans are the only species that drink the milk of another species that is intended for the young of that other species?
You want to be careful with the raw stuff. One can get everything from TB to Brucellosis to other weird diseases that are uncommon enough that they don't get diagnosed. I went through that when I was 17 and was hospitalized for consistently high fever (104-106 F) that wouldn't go down no matter what. It took them > 4 weeks to diagnose, and that was only because they finally brought in a retired, very old fart who had been dean of a well known medical school who started asking the right questions.

I've had some goat's milk from the store and it was not particularly goaty. This fresh stuff (bought from a farmer) had an aftertaste that hit about 5 seconds after swallowing. Not bad but distinctive. I've sensed a similar distinctiveness with different brands of cows milk.

There was segment on Nightline ( http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/story?id=3089282&page=1 ) about folks after raw milk. I was surprised that it's illegal in most places.

I guess one of the downsides of not consuming TV, radio or newspaper media is that you do tend to miss finding out about stuff like movies that you'd like to check out...
I would trot down to the nearest cinema and see this immediately (well probably tomorrow, but close enough) based on Mercs recommendation and the fact that it's based on a book co-authored by Neil Gaiman... Unfortunately, based on the UK release date (19th of October) it seems the distributors would much rather I download it instead...

I've never even heard of Stardust. I'll have to check it out.
I recently bought Hot Fuzz. If you liked Shaun of the Dead you will find the style (and actors) to be similar. I thought it was a very good movie for an action/comedy.

Watched "Die Hard 4.0" at the cinema's on the weekend, and despite the hundreds of "technical" misappropriations, it's a half decent action flick. (You'll know what I mean when you see it).
The movie starts with a bunch on "hackers" breaking into government systems, and then once their jobs/break-ins are complete, they all start getting knocked off one by one (by means of some well placed C4 under a HDD in a clear plastic PC case)! As if the dude isn't going to notice a 1/2 pound of C4 in their PC case where the 500GB Pr0n HDD used to be? While John (aka Bruce Willis) is assigned to pick up one of the "hackers", he manages to save the kids life before the bad guys get to him... and the rest of the movie is basically the bad guys trying to kill the young kid...
Like I said, ignore the technical details, and you'll enjoy it as a good "Die Hard" action flick.
Oh, and trick question, how many HDDs does it take to hold 500TB? According to the movie? Just two. Even my GF asked me as we were walking out of the cinema, how many drives it would take to hold 500TB (since her PC only has a 120GB HDD in it), "well around 500 at the bare minimum, but as in the setup in the movie, try around 3500-4000" was my answer...
Oh, and also the government has a link to the internet that can transfer said 500TB to a remote source via wireless in about 4hrs... (Thats a 10Gb pipe if you're interested).
PS. Look for Silent Bob! (aka Kevin Smith).

I honestly couldn't stand to watch Die Hard 4. After the fourth or fifth completely moronic thing involving computers came up, I gave up on it. I am glad that I didn't pay money to see it.

I thought it was fun enough. I long ago gave up any expectation that Hollyweird would understand technology. So with that belief firmly suspended I'm free to enjoy the popcorn movies for what they are - long chase scenes that blow stuff up surrounded by bits of essentially stupid & pointless plot devices. And the occasional naughty bits.
I liked Bourne Ultimatum better. Shaky-cam aside, the Bourne movies have better scripts, don't abuse tech too much, and have better stunt choreography.

For what it's worth, I thought the medical consultations given by the various doctors and health people in Supersize me was questionable at best. Definitely on the entertainment side of the edu-tainment spectrum. But I still liked the movie and that it had some good points, even if the vegan chef raised a huge red flag.

I really liked Somewhere In Time (an older woman friend rented it and made me watch it because she thought I was "the type" that would like it. This was in 1990). Christopher Reeve has shown he can act well in non-action movies.
I also liked Crouching Tiger so much I bought the DVD.
Saw a Jet Li movie (somewhat like Crouching Tiger) a few days ago on TV. Unfortunately it had started and I have no idea what the movie's name is. Was pretty good. It ends with him being poisoned in an arranged fight, and his Japanese opponent declares jet to be the winner, but Jet dies shortly after.
