My internet access sucks!

I'm not sure. It was finished when I woke up. Certain sites seem very, very slow when I access them in evening the last few days.

I have noticed that the net gets slow from 3PM until ~8PM. 3PM is when the kids get out of school.

Maybe, but I'm the only house in the neighborhood connected to that node, so that seems unlikely. Tonight this file is downloading at 4.0k/sec.

Have you tried unplugging the cable modem and plugging it back in?

Sorry, just had to say it. Anyway, it does sound like your connection is hosed. Have you tried a speed test?

Weird thing is most site are still very fast when these problems are going on. It only seems to be certain sites that are slow. It also seems to only be going on from maybe 5-6pm to midnight or so. I will have to run some of the speed tests tonight if the same thing happens again.

I've always wondered about battles between the carriers, if their backbone interfaces are as smooth as we would hope.

Isn't that peak Internet-at-home time?

With cable access like being on a neighborhood LAN, it's always had those high-demand time problems. You'd think, with the competition coming on from the telcos, they'd do something about that.

Now that I don't even have to get "cable" from the cable company, I don't have to deal with them at all.
