I've found their spam filter works pretty darn good.

Well it's certainly getting better, and it's miles better than the POP mail account my parents have with their local ISP (I suspect they sold their members' e-mail addresses to anyone who would buy them).

I am extremely pleased my own domain's mail service. Minimal spam, tons of storage space, webmail access, and it's free (hosting and mail are free with domain registration).

Yes, select all and delete works very well for Hotmail.

You know you have to enable the spam filter, right? It isn't 'on' by default.

The spam filter only redirects about 75% of the spam that I get at my Hotmail account. This leaves the remainder to fill my inbox.

Since I no longer actually get any personal messages at the account, all messages that I get there are spam. Hundreds daily.

Let me tell you, when they counted spam against your quota, I was getting a daily message about it.

Vastly improved custom filtering could make a significant difference if Hotmail and others were willing to implement it. Sadly, you must resort to whitelisting to keep your account clean.

I concur that hotmail's spam filter sucks (it sucks less than it used to). I had to take it all the way up to exclusive mode (only those in my address book make it to the inbox). See my first post.

Hopefully fastmail stays small to escape the notice of big spammers.
