[NEWS] - Hackers Accessed 5 Million Visa/Mastercard Accounts

It is kind of disturbing, since I bought stuff from the U.S. several times in the past from online sellers. Unfortunately, the article doesn't mention what store has been hacked. I hope it wasn't one I bought from.

It wasn't a store. It was a card processor. A place stores send card numbers to complete transactions. This is what we call a "major boo-boo".

Yeah, it's probably the one I use to pay for this web hosting called 2checkout.com. Good thing for me, I use virtual credit cards online so canceling takes a matter of 1 minute. Not to mention I set the limit to $50...

Now it may be up to 8 million cards. A few years ago, my parents had $6,000 attempted to be charged to their account from Turkey. Their bank called them before it was it was approved, so the thieves never got the goods, and the account was immediately closed.
